I hate to say it but the UK seems like its not at the same level as the US when it comes to race relations and tolerance, Heck just look at the US president.

American fans are pure boxing fans. They dont bring prejudice into the boxing arena. For instance Manny is oriental yet he gets great support in america. That would never ever happen in britain. Only place manny would get support in the UK is in china town or Chinese restaurant.

That being said I know that Britian is a very divided country, There is no such thing as "British", You are either English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, or a derogatory term for anything else. Perhaps the problem the UK faces is that they have been unable to define a national identity. For instance in the US there are Italian-Americans, ***ish-Americans, Arab-Americans, African-Americans, Latino-Americans....But are all still Americans.
I would say yes, maybe he would be more popular in Britain, my question to you is this; would he be as big a name as he is outside of the UK if he were a white british? I honestly don't think so.

you got a point there im sure he wouldnt have as many paks and ******s supporting him if he was white and british. the bottom line is nationalism and racism do exist and to act like it doesnt make some what of a difference is very naive even if it doesnt to you personally.

I understand your point, but i see it as a double edge sword, if he were white british he'd be accepted by his nation, but IMHO disregarded on the world stage as so many white british fighters are.

Amir Khan is not a big name outside of the UK, He has only had one American fight. Also people in American dont care about him being Asian or not, They care about his boxing ability.

Like I said before Manny is Far-Eastern and gets massive support in the US, In the UK only place Manny would get support is China town restaurant. The thread question is if Amir Khan was White would be more popular in the UK?...Not if he was white would he be more popular in the World.

Also in the USA you dont see the KKK saying things like "Mayweather should be sent back to Africa", "Manny should become a protestant". Simply put Americans just dont seem to care about race/religion. But in the UK the BNP say things like "Khan should go back to Pakistan", "Khan is a ******" also just go into any local bar when Khan is fighting and hear the kind of racist comments that are made.

khan would be more popular if he was white, he would have less haters who hate his race and religion (pakistani/******)

nevertheless khan is still a household name (UK), world champion (abc), making $millions$, so not being white has not held him back

anyways im sure khan is proud of his race and religion...well i hope he is anyway like we all should be too

you cant anwer this question without a survey, we can add it as a question in the next general consensus and that will give you your answer.

Last time I checked Khan was "British"? Just his parents are from Pakistan and you hold that against him, This is exactly what I mean! There is no such thing as "British" you are either English,Scottish,Irish, Welsh or a derogatory term for anything else.

Britian has failed to define a national indentity, In the US you have African-Americans, ***ish-Americans, Japanese-Americans, Italians-Americans but they are still all Americans.

I just wish Britian would one day evolve to the point where everyone is equal regardless of skin color like the US.

Wow! 70% of people say that if Khan was white he would be more popular in the UK! Just goes to show how much behind the USA the UK really is in race relations. Last time I checked the UK didnt have a black president.

God Bless America, The light unto all nations!
