Yeah, that was around Christmas, I think. Pretty ****** of the guy to try something like that, and when I saw it I KNEW where he got that from (the guy he stole it from is one of my bestest boxing buddies on the 'net).

In my opinion, Spinks ranks behind greats like Ezzard Charles, Sam Langford, Archie Moore and Gene Tunney at this weight. Possible top five for Spinks, but then he'd get some very stiff competition for that spot from the likes of Bob Foster, Tommy Loughran and Billy Conn.

Somewhere between the fifth and eighth spots for me.
How can Tunney rate above Spinks at the lightheavyweight division?

Simply because his victories over Harry Greb are more much impressive than any wins on Spinks' Light Heavyweight resume. Then if you throw in Tunney's Light Heavyweight wins over the likes of Battling Levinsky, Georges Carpentier, Jeff Smith, and maybe even Tommy Loughran (that fight depends on the source), and to my eyes that's a Light Heavyweight record/resume that looks quite a bit more impressive than what's on Spinks' ledger.

Old ****ing Mongoose is the man. The man has twice as many wins as your average fighter has fights in their career. His career spanned 4 ****ing decades.

Yup. I often wonder how the light heavyweight landscape would have differed had both Spinks and Moorer stayed there. Also, what a wonderful matchup it would have been if the two of them got in the ring together.

If there was one negative about Michael Spinks, it was his lack of fights in 1978 and 1979, somewhere around that time, he probably would have faced Saad or John Conteh and some others he didn't fight, which wasn't many.

hell, no he wasn't. archie moore was damn near 50 and he was destroying every single lighthw that challenged for his title. charles friggin' killed someone in the ring. no way spinks compares to those two.

So beating a middleweight is more impressive than beating the top 175ers of the 80's, haha good one. Do u have something against spinks? You act like his heavyweight accomplishments aren't jack **** when its actually very good if you look at it in an unbiased way. Why dont u post the p4p rankings in 85, 86 and 87? I'm sure spinks is top 5.

                      Michael Spinks Style of Boxing

I've never seen any of Michael Spink's fight but I have heard people say he was a great fighter as a light heavy. I've also heard his style of boxing was unorthodox and threw his opponents off. How would you describe Michael Spink's boxing style and are there any current boxers that have a similiar style?
