How much did they spent promoting the fight?

A fight can sell say 3 Million buys but if you spent a great deal also then the revenue guys cant be too excited.

But for HBO and Golden Boy's accountants...it's the bottom line that matters. Maybe they'll never tell us how much was spent on advertising alone. 24/7, the tours, the venue, everything.

That's not a "maybe they'll never tell us how much was spent".......

That's a "no way in hell we ever find out how much they spend"......

If Money Mayweather or any other fighter for that matter end up putting the pieces of the puzzle together on how much they bring into their promoters.... none of us will ever see a big time fight ever again!

We could only hope a MAY-PAC fight is made for HBO and GoldenBoy's sake (ok Top Rank too)...the question is will the fans take another round of posturing, clowning and putting a spanner in the works during negotiations?

Lol. Were you there to witness his birth too? His first word and the day he first walked perhaps?

But seriously, two things about that:

If what you said is true you sound like a crab ass ma****a, hatin on Floyd's successes.

If not, then you are a more intelligent troll than I originally envisioned so props on that.

Now, as for the numbers, they were great numbers for what the fight was. A fight between two black fighters that Mayweather carried (when has mosley ever done good numbers before? Ill wait.. I mean even with oscar in oscars prime drawing power time Shane didn't get no 1.4..) This the highest grossing all black PPV fight in history and its a failure?? What a crab ass.
Shaeffer and company predicted so highly to encourage the bandwagon mentality, like, "oh everyone is ordering this fight I have to too". It was a marketing technique nothing more.. Anyone that reads too much into that PPV prediction **** clearly doesn't understand basic promotional concepts.. Pac Cotto had some pretty wild PPV predictions by Arum as I recall, why aren't you addressing that?
The fight was not a failure so gtfo with that.

Isn't it common practice for Broadcasters and Promoters to make a big deal about the ppv numbers they do?

They why so quiet about Mayweather v Mosley?

I had to dig around to find that "Broadcasting and Cable" announced on 5/11 that Mayweather v Mosley did 1.4 mil ppv buys. (see -- Broadcasting & Cable, 5/11/2010 2:46:58 PM By David Tanklefsky)

I am a Money May fan and I bought the fight..... I also bought the 2 mill ppv buy estimate that Golden Boy and HBO were selling pre-fight..... I thought it was in the bag!!! (I never believed 2.5 - 4 mill were possible.... but surely 1.5 to 1.7 mill.... right?)

                    WRONG!!!!!!!

The truth is PAC fans were right all along..... Mayweather / Mosley wasn't going to ever come close to even 2 million buys!

Experts and Floyd Fans couldn't have been more wrong about Floyd being a Mega PPV SuperStar (and I include myself in this group...)

I'm resigned to the fact that due to the lack of any official announcement from Golden Boy Promotions or HBO:

                    1) Mayweather / Mosley and its 1.4 mill ppv buys.... was a disappointment to HBO and Golden Boy.

                    2) With all the additional promotion (media coverage, 24/7, ect...) the Mayweather / Mosley fight only sold 700k more than Pac / Clottey.

                    3) We will never hear any official word from HBO or Golden Boy Promotions on why their projections were so wrong on this supposed mega-fight.

                    4) Any negotiation advantage that Mayweather assumed he would/should have because of ppv drawing power is now out the window.

If May / Mosley can't sell 1.5 mil.... forget Mayweather / PAC outselling the Mayweather / De La Hoya Fight.

Richard Schaffer and Mark Taffet must be still trying to figure out how to spin this into a positive...... the problem is this time..... there is no answer!!!
Cotto is a draw, he has Puerto Rico behind him which includes the Island of Puerto Rico and many Puerto Rican populated areas in the USA and globally and Pacquiao has the same support behind him, they are BOTH draws yet they only sold 1.25 million PPV's (1,250,000) while Floyd in a fight where he was the only draw he itched out 1.4 million PPV's (1,400,000) and walked away with a combined total of 40,000,000$+.. so basically we got a fight where there's 2 BIG draws involved and it doesn't sell as much as a fight where there is only 1 draw, what does that tell you about Floyd's drawing power? he has much more of it
