There is No need to spin anything to a positive, cause the 1.4 Million has been received by most of the media and people as great numbers.

Pullcounter was more right about this fight than I was...... I would have bet all my points that this fight would do over 1.5 mil ppv.

      What a wake up call.

In my opinion..... if floyd v pac ever happens...... 2 mil would be a monster event!!!

Compared to historical ppv events.... yes agreed.

Compared to the hype and pre-fight ppv projections from both HBO and Golden Boy Promotions..... the event fell far short of expectations.

Why is it so bad? It didn't meet their expectations but it still did incredibly well.

I don't know why you think 1.4 mil is so bad.

Wow...hard to dispute that figure, coming from a broadcasting / cable perspective. I can imagine how the PAC-MAY negotiations will be affected by this.

Great post also on FMJr. before he became MONEY.

Ok about the expectation thing, but you said that they would have to spin this into a positive, right? But who needs the spinning? Cause the media and most people have accepted the numbers as a success, expectations or not.

                  On the surface they're great.

But once you start digging into how much was spent on promotion,

                  well,

even by estimates laid out by the guys throwing the party,

its not really a great look.

Only bad from the perspective that the fight got so much promotion and sold 600k to 1mil buys less than what the bottom line number was expected to be.

It was still a big boxing event.... but way off expectation of those selling and promoting the fight (and way off what I thought...... but it appears I know very little.... otherwise I wouldn't have been so shocked at the 1.4 mil number)

What Im trying to say is It has already been deemed a good look by the media and most people. So the spinning dude said would have to go down, Is not needed. The Numbers got a positive reaction. So what is there to spin.
