What does ANY version of Cotto do that would trouble Mayweather?

Margarito hit him but like I said it didn't deter him til the very end. The thing is Marg is a punching machine(100+ a round), something Mayweather isn't. Mayweather would of hit him but he doesn't bring the volume or power that Marg hit Miguel. Chop hurt him, Pac, and Ricardo but those are very strong punchers as well and Pac is very high volume. I really doubt that Mayweather could of held Miguel at bay by punching. He might win but he would of had to keep Miguel off him, worked the jab, and pot shotted. It would of went 12 rounds and Mayweather would of had to fight very intelligently to get the W.Comment

I just dont see how someone who is that slow and easy to hit, even pre-margarito Cotto was slow and easy to hit. Zab Judah was able to bust Cotto up and all Zab throws is a left hand. This is something that as a fan of boxing is ridiculous to even think that a fighter with Cotto's style could beat Mayweather.
I just dont see what advantages a fighter like Cotto could have vs Floyd, he has a nice jab but Floyd is wayy to fast for Cotto and would come over the top everytime he threw the jab, once he timed it.
Who has more advantages in this style matchup?
1) power (duh)
2) a good jab (gives speedsters problems)
3) stength (floyd isn't gonna walk cotto down like mosley)Last edited by Pullcounter; 05-19-2010, 08:20 PM.Comment

Why are May and his fans kings of fantasy fights??
I agree May would beat cotto but that doesn't give May a pass on fighting himComment

Who knows? Floyd was too much of a puss to ever step into the ring. One thing I know is people get this bright idea that Floyd is so speedy that he would do what Pac did to Cotto and that simply is not true. Floyd doesn't throw a lot of punches like Pac or Margarito and doesn't have the heavy hands of Marg or the electric power in his punch that Pac has. Floyd might of beat him, I don't know but he wouldn't of stopped Miguel and the fight could of simply been the same as Shane V Cotto except Shane at least had the power to make Cotto wear down and forced him to use his boxing skills. IMO, Floyd has gotten better in his last few fights, if he hadn't I'd say this fight would still be a toss up.
How is Floyd a puss for not stepping into the ring with a guy who's promoter didn't want Floyd to fight?
It's still an unbelievably ******ed comparison.
Cotto would pressure him...sure. But he'd be pressuring him with a COMPLETELY different set of tools than Baldomir, to make the comparison is just asinine. Speed, footwork, punching power, timing.......NOTHING is the same. Absurd to compare to completely different fighters just because they both pressure opponents.
Floyd beats any version of Cotto. A fight with the '07/'08 version of Cotto looks very similar to the DLH fight. Cotto will pressure, give Floyd some problems early on with the jab and win some rounds on pure aggression.
Floyd will then figure him out and sweep the last half of the fight, and most likely make it look easy.
Your going on about bull**** I never said. I never said baldomir is the same as cotto. I never said Cotto has the same skill as baldomir. I never said **** about them being the same.
I said Cotto WOULD BE EXPECTED TO DO THE SAME THING BALDOMIR WAS EXPECTED TO DO. Do caps help you understand things better?
It means Cotto would be expected to pressure and bully Floyd, hit him with body shots, which is Cotto's specialty. That is the same exact **** Baldomir was expected to do.
That **** don't work. JLC, Hatton, Oscar, Baldomir, Mosley, Chop chop, Corrales... all attempted the same ****. It failed.Comment

no version of cotto could trouble mayweather cotto is slow compared to floyd and easy to hit and so his margarito so for those fans that say mayweather ducked them both he didn't fight them because of bob arum and even if he did floyd would of beat both of them easy by UDComment

How am I going on about **** you never said? It's right here.
And it's still wrong.
There's a difference between bringing up the pressuring tactic and than comparing Baldomir. Not all of those guys looked as clueless as Baldomir, some of the actually had some success.Comment
