I wouldn't say past prime but his work ethic was noticeably dropping towards the end of his career , plus he didnt seem to have the same desire anymore which could explain for his crap performance against calvo . Barrera just exploited the fundamental flaws Hamed always had and would have done so any time in Naz's career.

I still think Barrera takes advantage of the numerous mistakes Hamed made and beats him even if it were the mid 90s Hamed. He still made too many damn errors and his reflexes could only make up so much for them. He was still getting hit too much by the likes of Medina & Kelley.
this exactly .Hamed would have lost to barrera any time in huis career jmo
I can't rememebr my score but it was like a 12 round UD
Naz really wasn't into it.
Please watch Big fight Little prince on youtube. It's about 1 hour but it was just before the Barrera fight.
Are you saying it was a 12 round shutout?
Scorecards were 115-112 (twice) and 116-111. Barrera had a point deducted so it's slightly wider than that, but it wasn't a 'schooling' - people who have never actually watched the fight or wanted to see him lose just keep saying it.
He lost fair and square, he boxed terribly (going for the KO instead of actually boxing) and got what he deserved against a great fighter.
In fact wouldn't you say he was more prime than Barrera who was 55 fights into his career by then and had seen himself in wars with Morales Jones and McKinney?

Naz was a great fighter and terribly entertaining, however, he wasn't as good as the world's best. He was plenty in his prime, he just didn't have enough to beat that level of opponent.
Agreed and really, we should've saw this coming. It wasn't like was some one-dimensional slugger. I was really impressed with his performance in the rematch against Junior Jones. He showed a variety of skills and might've won if it was a 15-rounder. Amazing how we forgot all about him until he met Morales the first time.
This is why I put Barrera in front of JMM and Morales in the all time rankings between those three. It's because if his great boxing skill and intelligence.
Even though I have to say, JMM is creeping to the top of that list and might be there when it's all said and done.
