Paulie will take 6 months off, lick his wounds, find someone to blame, listen to the tea baggers around him and make a comeback. Maybe not in that order, but let's face it, what else is he gonna do for the rest of his life.... run a fortune 500 company!?

He should at least face Nate or sumthing and finish his career up with a win, (but there's no money in that) He looked arguably his best in the IInd Diaz wonder what the hell happened to him ??

Probably not his fault, down to his hands, but still.
You might say Dirrell has taken the piss with the lateral movement, such as the Stevens and Froch fights, but I just love his fluid combinations and speed. I know you think he's flakey but he's gone up against two hard-as-nails, undefeated fighters in AA and Froch, and come out the other side as the better fighter in both, IMHO. I think he's the real deal.
Btw, I would never argue against anyone who thought Kirkland was overrated and lacked quality. Kirkland was a fun fighter who came to destroy. A watered-down, much-less skilled JMW version of Tyson. And sometimes, I want that.
I like Pavlik, whose style is stodgy and kinda ugly. I love Pac, whose style, let's face it, is not the most technically sound. I like slick fighters like Toney, Sweet Pea, and I admire the **** out of Floyd in the ring. There's not a single style I love, but I just need to have a visual and emotional response to it.
With Paulie, I just can't connect to it. Maybe it's the lack of power, and with it, the knowledge of punches with little bad intentions. Part of it is, I just don't think Paulie is a top quality fighter. I know you'll disagree but that's my opinion. Lots of guts and a big heart but ultimately, not a great boxer. Not at elite level anyway.
I wouldn't cite the Diaz fights especially, although they were fun. Paulie used to let his hands go in bunches, his movement used to be smarter - he lost increments, nuances and any confidence in his hands over time.
The overrated aesthetic worth of a style like the younger Pacquiao's is what sickens me. That's not to say I don't enjoy watching it.
I can't be bothered to defend Paul anymore, as a persona or a stylist. If people don't get him, it's their loss. At his best, he was special. We haven't seen him at his best in a while, due to a combination of bad cards he's been dealt. You can call that excuses, but sometimes it isn't excuses, it's just the way things are. And even if you didn't believe he was 'elite', that's not the only thing that can define a special fighter, anyway - fighters can be possessed of elite skills or not, they can have relatively little ability, or have great ability yet betray their talent, but still be remembered as great (if maybe not GREAT) for the character they exhibit in the ring.
That he has no punch yet was either competetive with or got to hang with some of the most rugged contenders of his time, standing in with a guy like Cotto, is testament to what he's made of. This dude is boxing, its hopes, its dreams, its failures, its redemptions, its traegedies, its glories, its blood, sweat and its tears.
And I'm defending him again.
Fuck anybody who would say dumb enough **** to elicit a defence of him in the first place. I'm done with this thread.

@elytwo10 ... What happened to Paulie between the Diaz fights and the Khan fight, you ask? The bottom line is Diaz is not that good and he is smaller than Paulie. I personally won't miss Paulie fights anymore since their is no drama (i.e. no chance for a KO) when he fights. This is why I hope Cotto beats Foreman in June, Foreman doesn't KO anyone either...

Mad respect to Paulie, he is a very talented boxer, but it was hard to watch him the last couple of rounds, I wish him the best in whatever he decides to do, and I hope to see him as a commentator if he indeed does decide to retire, he is full of wisdom and intellect. Good Luck Paulie!!
