Toney is a cheater who doesn't hold a belt. I think his positive test for roids put a damper on an impending Klit fight.

Klitchko, John Ruiz, Byrd, and Brewster should be fighting each other to unify the belt.

Something isn't adding up here.
Looks to me like Vitali is going to let himself get stripped of the WBC belt. There's really no shame in that, if what you're looking for is big fights.

If he lets himself get stripped, then fights Maskaev, then he's a terrible businessman. Tarver and Johnson let their belts go; Castillejo did recently too. If Vitali really wants Toney, HBO will show it and will promote it as a "true heavyweight title" just like they did "Tarver/Johnson I & II" even though it was for an IBO belt.

Thing is, all he has to do is fight Rahman in the fall, likely later than Sept. 24, though, to get HBO & a decent payday.

If he wants to be a long-reigning champion with one of the big 4 belts, he's going to have to deal with Don King eventually.

I don't think most of his fans who worship him like a pop star care who he fights, though. And maybe that's good enough for him. He's got enough money; the public opinion of him has plummeted significantly, though in the last year or two. It's all in what his priorities are and who he is trying to impress, I guess...

Wow! you should have never posted this man... Give it a few hours before tons of irrate Klitchko fans start to post, swarming all over you like a nest of angry hornets for simply stating the facts. No matter what klitchko does good or bad they either over-hype it or they take any type of negative criticism as an all out assualt and they go bolistic.

Example Klitchko walked outside and smelled some flowers today and because of that he must be the greatest champ ever greater than ali, Tyson in his hayday or any other fighter out there. The way Klitchko drank that cup of coffe shows me that he will easily beat Rahman and Brewster on the same night.

Yeah I have to agree its about time HBO stopped allowing these mismatches and took a stand. Oleg Maskaev is not the one to put in there with Klitchko.

Also you are probably right Mayweather is going to turn it into a match where the ultimate blood and guts warrior cannot get an opportunity to brawl and show his blood and guts Mayweather never engages in those types of wars.

          neils,

Of course Vitaly will sonner or later have to deal with Don King, problem is, they first have to come to terms and this is what this "war" is about

never said you were a fanatic cooler. Was directed at the millions of others who go overboard with their defense of klitchko. No need to get defensive unless you fit into the mold. its ok to be a fan its the fanatics who kill me

The word "fan" used to describe those who support individuals/teams is actually short for "fanatic".

i dont understand the problem of taking another bout prior to fighting rahman-barrett... rahman is protesting against letting VK fight on sept 24, cause he says he can be ready in that short amount of time, but what if rahman loses to barrett and barrett says he isnt ready... then vk will have to wait around for MB to be ready to fight again... what the hell is rockhead's problem with VK fighting on the 24th?

Heavyweight division is not interesting anymore. HBO should focus more on the jr welterweight, welterweight and lightweight divison where the top dogs are.

I've said many times on this forum that the so-called heavyweight champs need to be fighting more frequently like 3-4 times per year. If Brewster, Byrd, Ruiz, or Klitscho were fighting this much(every 3 or 4 months) there would be a genuiune interest in these guys and alot more boxing fans would want to watch them. Plus, they would be making more money because people would be willing to buy their tickets and ppvs. Before you guys tell me that's an impossibility, just imagine if Vitali fought and won fights against these fighters in 2005:

                      Chris Byrd
                      Hasim Rahman
                      James Toney

Then us fans wouldn't mind seeing(and paying) Vitali vs Oleg because the champ has proved himself and deserves any easy fight, if you want to call it that.
