This is a tough matchup for Malignaggi, he'd be better off fighting like he always does and forcing Khan to initiate the action. Paulie just isn't a pressure fighter.

I think Paulie relies on having better hand speed in most of his fights and Khan is faster than he is. I also dont feel Paulie can keep Khan off of him with his mediocre punching power. Paulie makes for a good win on his resume, but I dont see any way Paulie can pull it off.
Hey, man - if you think Khan beats Paul all along on styles and how they match up, it's all good.

It's the part about how Paulie's gonna be maimed and wrecked that bewilders me. Y'know, he's done quite a bit, he's pretty experienced, let's give him some benefit of the doubt that he can at least test Khan a little bit in there. Amir isn't a machine, he has weaknesses in his game.

I think Paulie should use his superior quick jab and footwork. And, at time, AT times when the fight is on the inside use his experience and better inside fighting game. But, he can only do that at the time. He should use his legs in this fight.

Him trying to walk Khan down would get him outbox by the quicker taller and IMO better skilled fighter.
I'm not suggesting he should spend the whole fight coming forward into Khan's jab and combinations, I'm just saying it's not a foregone conclusion that Khan will just maim Paul everytime if Paul tries to be aggressive at points.
It's how and when he does it, he needs to mix it up, get those feet moving, circle, jab, if he's gonna come in at all, do it judiciously and craftily, land something and tie-up, frustrate Khan, take him out of his comfort zone.

So WTF are we talking about here?

Or did he magically become Paulie again in 09?

What made 08 different? Could this be why 08 Paulie didn't look good. Maybe just maybe it was he fought 3 times against top level guys. And, neither of those 3 top level guys were weight drained. Could that be a possibility that he didn't look as good as he did in the previous years?
        It's not "magical".

You go through rough patches in your career. You change trainers. you re-gain motivation/focus. You heal from injuries. You re-dedicate/improve.

This. I cant believe how many people dont realize Khan is a Boxer. Not a Brawler.

Exactly, man. You're more succint with it.

I don't see what the debate is over this point. To someone who watched Malignaggi in those years, the difference is obvious.

LOL, I really want him to win tonight so badly.

You didn't see Shane being stalked and smacked about the head and body consistently throughout that bout?
