Does it make any sense for Floyd to fight Margarito? Yet it makes perfect sense for Pac to fight him? I guess there is a lower standard a shorter bar of expectation for some fighters vs others.

Winky really isn't a big money fight, and Williams-Martinez II becomes less marketable if PW has another performance as bad as the one he put in at the weekend. They might as well fight each other as it's unlikely Floyd or Pac steps into the ring with either of them. What's wrong with letting Sergio Martinez rack up some dough??? The fact is, PWill and Martinez had an incredible fight and a rematch will bring $$$ whenever they decide to fight again...
After the smack down he laid on Pavlik, Martinez has earned himself at least one big $$$ fight, ie; Margarito, PBF, Winky... because whether he wins, loses, or draws... a rematch with PWill can always be made on the simple fact that they're first fight left a lot to desire..Comment

It was 3 rounds bro. You can't judge a 12 round fight off of 3 rounds. The fight was just getting started when it ended. Paul didn't put out a bad performance. He never had the chance to put out a good one.Comment

It still amazes me that there is still talk of hooking Margarito up with a big fight. This guy doesn't deserve to be given a big fight. He should catch the next bus to TJ and work on selling t-shirts.Comment

Just STFU already. Stop bitchin. Martinez is trying to avenge a defeat, one fight at a time, give him a goddamn break for god's sake. Martinez even said himself that the Margarito loss was the only "real" loss on his record, every other loss (or draw against Cintron) is questionable. Just shut your trap & think before you post. Opinions like yours annoy the **** out of me.Is it time to start questioning Sergio Martinez' level of commitment and dedication to the sport now? How can he not rematch immediately with Paul Williams and prefer a fight with Margarito; Who skills which may very well be on the decline since their first meeting?
He has pushed a rematch with Paul Williams last on his priorities list. It gives the perception that he may be even ducking Williams by calling out first a limited Pavlik, then second a damaged Margarito and now a smaller Mayweather.
My question is, what exactly has Margarito done lately, to warrant such a fight with Martinez that Paul Williams hasn't done?Comment

Not really. I doubt Margarito would be able to load his gloves this time around. It would be like their first fight except Martinez might last a bit longer but the outcome would be the same. Margarito by TKO.

Margarito won't bring him money!?!? Margarito filled up an arena with 17,000 Mexicans against a nobody! If Martinez fights him at the Staples Center in L.A., or in Dallas, they would sell the place out, especially since there is also a large Argentine population in L.A. & Texas!Comment

It's an obvious, good ploy by Arum to put the info out that he (and Manny P.) won't have Mayweather messing around ruining another big fight negotiation, that Margarito is ready, willing and able to step in and make the fight.BoxingScene.com was advised that promoter Lou DiBella reached out to Top Rank to make a rematch between WBC/WBO middleweight champion Sergio Martinez and Antonio Margarito. Top Rank called him back and turned the fight down, for now. Margarito has been placed on hold for a possible fight with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao in November. At the same time, I'm sure that he and the Manny P. camp want to make the fight, which, they all expect to make "history", as well as money, and they all want to be involved in it.
The only thing which occurs to me, is that since the Castillo 1 fight, no Mayweather event has really lived up to expectations, and of all his fights I have liked only that one and the Augustus fight, in each one of which, he got more than he'd bargained for.
As has been pointed out, fans were leaving the arena at the 10th round in the Mosley fight, which was just "business as usual" for Mayweather. It seems to me that every time I've seen him fight, or ALMOST every time, the commentators have remarked on that very same thing, saying that Mayweather is "stinking out the house" again........
If he had been, (as he should be) properly matched by "standard level" instead of "money draw", or "safety for his "0", that should never happen, and, since he's now a huge draw,it probably never will before he retires, which, if he keeps his pockets zipped up this time, should be fairly soon.Comment

I think he's far too good a promoter and negotiator to "show his true intentions" to the "band-wagon-jumping" fight fans. I believe that this is a message to Mayweather to "shut up and put up" or else bugger off quickly.
I've always believed that Arum, who wants to do the best for his fighters, also wants the best for boxing patrons. How do you all think he became the world's best promoter. Not because everybody loves him, obviously.Comment
