His argument doesn't make sense, because then you can point to the losses on Baldomir's record and dismiss that win accordingly, point to Zab's inconsistency who coincidentally lost to a guy who was a journeyman (see above) fighter before he fought Mayweather, so technically Zab was coming off a loss also.

de la hoya was so dehyrated in that fight that he should have went to the hospital before they even fought. He weight in at 143 then came in after eating and drinking at 142. C'mon buddy, he didn't even fight ODH, he fought ODH's skeleton.

I disagree on the elite Margacheato but I get what u mean. His elite came from his secret weapons. The rest are historic facts.
        i didnt clarify well enough

i meant cotto was elite, as he was, margacheato was prime and very good although never elite, although now a cheater and insult to the sport

and shane was there to be fought, going up and down from 154-147.

shane did not duck mayweather, people try to believe that, it is wrong

when shane and dlh fought eachother they were making millions on ppv, floyd was never a ppv attraction back then, he didnt measure up to a ppv back then.

This old fart does not see that he is contradicting himself. I can't believe you idiots on here are actually saying that merchant is spitting the truth. You guys are morons. I can't wait till pac gets his ass whipped so that we can get fans with some logic back in this sport.
pac wont be the biggest challenge for floyd? so youre telling me, a fighter who throws 4-5 punch combos from all angles, has amazing foot work, great chin, great head movement, darts in & out with endless pressure, and matches floyds conditioning, DOESNT pose a challenge for floyd?!?!?! youre too biased homie...

logically, i slightly favor floyd SD over pac... but i dont see it as easy work for floyd... contrary to what most of you believe, pac has a pretty good jab... watch the cotto fight again, he used it effectively to set up miguel...

i agree, larry merchant is being a little TOO biased as an analyst... but lets not forget he has seen the greatest fighters in the ring. i totally understand his lack of interest in a floyd UD.... especially since he's seen hagler/hearns, leonard/hearns, etc.... anybody who witnessed sugar ray leonard in action will obviously find floyd anticlimactic.... floyd cant finish off an opponent the way leonard finished of floyd sr. HAHA.

although floyds a boxing genius, he tends to sap the energy out of the building. LOL. people were leaving after the 10th round @ floyd/shane.

get my **** straight? you make sense first alright partna

shane ducked floyd? are you out of your mind? haha

you must be new to the sport
you clearly referred to cotto, margo and shane as elite. But i'll let it slide so that you can change up your argument.

Its on video with shane ducking floyd after the second vargas fight. On video, you must be new to the sport as I have been a fan of this sport since 1991.

And yes, arum said cotto is "too green" to fight floyd. If you don't know this ****, then you must be knew to the sport .

But Floyd didnt take him.....like Merchant is saying that Floyd built a big name for himself concerning money, but he hasnt built it like Manny and others by fighting his toughest fights
can you provide any proof of shane calling floyd out before the marquez fight?

your just making up stuff man an it's funny.

                much respect to floyd.

MY entire point is that floyd states he is the best ever, but has not attempted to beat the best.

therefore he has no reason to complain

he has brought this on himself.

he complained before the shane fight that when he wins that people will say shane is old and past his prime.

but HE choose to fight an old past his prime mosley.

                that is my point

why is this **** so hard to understand?

OK, I see what your saying there, but before you were criticising him for fighting judah and baldomir - in 2005/06, they were the two leading ww's in the division at the time. he beat them both and collected the belts, but now those two are not at the top anymore, everyone gives him ****, saying he hasn't fought the best at ww. they were both higher up the ladder then cotto, margarito etc. at the time. that was what i was taking issue with. call it a truce, but i'm firmly in the camp that mayweather doesn't get the credit he deserves.

For each negative you listed regarding the opposition Pac has faced, I can best those negatives times 5 for each opponent Floyd had faced, keep in mind I think Floyd is the best boxer of the last 15 years.
Great points, its easy to discredit a fighter, but most find it hard to give a fighter the credit he is due

Thanks brother--it's silly...if you're a fan of Pac then Mayweather's name automatically gets brought up and you're a "hater" and visa versa...which is why that fights needs to happen. I respect both.

prior, floyd fights a 135lb jmm then comes in over the contractural agreement... jmm has no chance, none, hits mayweather with a straight right and didnt even phase him. no chance for jmm.

floyd fights zab after zab loses to baldomir, brian kenny calls him out and floyd gets heated saying zab is the ww champ, kenny tells him he is a paper champ, floyd says he has the belt,

but now floyd wont fight an elite for a belt, because he dont like belts.

then he fights baldomir,---------do i have to comment about this?

so floyd can only be mad at himself, not the boxing fans.

if he fights sergio at 154 or paul williams who are both real threats then he would gain more respect.
i think he boxes pwill to death and the martinez fight would be more competitive because sergio is slick as well

pac will never happen, even tho i think may beats pac

my point is floyd brings this upon himself, if he wants to fight for money then cool, but dont come out and say you are the best ever when you wont fight the best.

he had a chance to fight an elite cotto, margacheato and shane, but didnt
how did floyd chose when majority of the public was saying that's the man he was ducking?

funny how you left out that brian kenny also told floyd that he was ducking baldomir then he went on to beat baldomir now you guys are mad about it.
