at the time, cotto wasn't a draw, in floyd's mind. remember, floyd made 30-40 to fight oscar?dont give that BS. Everytime Floyd was asked if he would fight Cotto, he said Cotto wasn't a PPV draw and that was the exact same ***** his fans where saying on here and NOW that Pac does over a million with him, its because Cotto's ALWAYS been a draw?
Not to mention that Floyd fans were saying the fight wouldnt sell **** because the 24/7 was "boring" and Cotto was a robot with no personality which was why Floyd didn't fight him. And don't forget, Schaefer HIMSELF said that Mayweather/Mosley has been the most heavily promoted fight in GBP history.
Not only that, Pac actually fought someone with virtually NO fan base and also with NO 24/7 and did 700K. How much did Floyd's last fight do with someone and no 24/7? 350K with Baldomir.
50/50 or retire.
he wouldn't have made that much to fight cotto. at that point, cotto was still undefeated, and i don't think arum would've been willing to give floyd more than a 50/50 split for cotto, which means, he would've only made about HALF of what he made for fighting oscar.
floyd probably makes "oscar" money fighting shane last week, b/c shane was had in negotiations, and probably got somewhere around a 65-35 split. you honestly think arum would've done that for a mayweather-cotto matchup?
i'm not saying cotto is a HUGE draw, at this point, but he's still third behind mayweather and pacquiao. just a very distant third.Comment
