You could tell that he was clearly tired, and still gave it his all in the later rounds despite 11. He was clearly stunned, and hurt from the body work he sustained, and came out firing early in the 12th.

The John Ruiz clinching towards the end of the fight was necessary, because he was dead tired. He hit Johnson with the kitchen sink, and he never went down. I was sold that Tarver was going to stop him this time around, and underrated Johnson's chin and willingness to walk through hailstorms, despite knowing he has never been knocked down.

Johnson did what he normally does, and that is absorb a tremendous amount of punishment from heavy handed fighters. Tarver on the other hand showed he can **** inside:

Next time around, I think it gets easier for Tarver because he has Johnson figured out now. He might be able to stop Glen in the third fight if he uses the exact same strategy he did tonight.

That being said: Tarver shows he is a tactical fighter. On a micro level, his gameplans change as his fights progress and it makes him a very tough opponent. I dont think there is anyone in the division who would have weathered the storm of punches he showered on Johnson. No damn way. He would pit-pat, then stun him with the left hand, and Johnson was doing alot of clinching in the middle rounds because he was hurt bad.
Well said, John is one tough guy. I couldn't beleive he stayed up

Hopefully he will come through with the mil. He lost what 12 million total? What a shame.

Another thing that I figured was strange, was Johnson not letting his hands go. Despite the brawling action, you could compare this fight to Holyfield Byrd. Holyfield said before the fight, he was going to lay some soft shots on him, and then try and hit him with harder ones when he let his guard down.

If Johnson would have fired back immediately, and traded like his corner and the announcers were saying, he would have made the fight much closer. He could be extremely tough to beat with his gaurd, and the way he absorbs punches, but unlike Byrd >

He lacks that instinct in the ring. Either he attacks, or gets attacked. He is not a very good counter puncher by any means whatsoever, and he cant use that same method the third time around. He should try and lay on the ropes....and counterpunch Tarver. This "Center of the Ring" thing is not going to cut it because Tarver outhustles him and wins on the cards.

If Johnson did fight when Tarver was throwing punches he may not have been able to last the distance. Tarver shut that part of Johnson's offense down. Tarver was throwing arm punches just to open up Johnson and then he would throw a hard shot when the opening would come. I also think that the hard shots Tarver landed discouraged Johnson from opening up more.

In my opinion, Tarver was much more accurite and effective with his shots, Although Glen kept coming in, Tarver threw and landed more shots. Don't get me wrong i can see and understand why they gave Glen the fight, but i just disagree with it.
