Would you bash Floyd if he decided to fight Martinez for the belts at a 158 catch?

No there isn't. If both guys agree, then it's a fight. Period.
Damn it man... you're contradicting yourself.

You say WW is 41-47, then say that a guy can't weigh 47'...

Thats what pissed me off about that Cotto fight. He couldn't weigh the limit and had to give up his titles.

Because Martinez can use those 6 extra pounds as an advantage, and being as he is champion at 160; he rightfully deserves to have that advantage.

to be honest since both aren't big guys the "BEST" fight would be them two at 154 maybe..anything higher should be a catch weight ..Not to give either an advantage just pointing out that they both can perform high south of 160..if they ever fought at 160 both would come in under the limit.

Yeah exactly. Once you place a limit on what the fighters can weigh in at that's below the official division's highest limit, you're no longer fighting in that division but at a catchweight. I don't get how people keep misinterpreting the rules. 141-147lbs is welterweight; 141-145lbs is not.

I don't have a problem with catchweights though, just the titles being on the line. The possibility that Floyd could beat Martinez and become the WBO, WBC, Ring and lineal middleweight champion without ever fighting in the division is just ridiculous.

Pacquiao did it for Cotto's WBO WW title at 145 and most fans defended that because he was a 'small WW'. So would you defend Floyd because he would be a small MW?

Would you be okay with this?
No, fight at the FULL weight, or don't fight at all. Whatever happens, if it is not at the full weight NO TITLE should be at stake. This 'catchweight' crap is PURE BULL****!
