did you even read my post? wow...

tyson fought mcneeley in 1995 ...that was 15 years ago

cell phones, flat screen tvs, ipods, mp3s, and internet either didnt exist yet, or were in primitive stages

theres a big difference from 1995 and 2010 in terms of technology ...also a big difference in the state of the economy. if floyd fought mosley in 1995, it would have done 2.5-3 million buys. if tyson fought mcneleey in 2010 it would do 800-900k buys because the other 1 million or so people would be streaming it probably

But yea, you can't deny Tyson's draw:

6/8/02 - Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson - 1,995,000 buys.

6/28/97 - Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield II - 1,990,000 buys

11/9/96 - Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield - 1,600,000 buys

8/19/95 - Mike Tyson vs. Peter McNeely - 1,580,000 buys

That's a total of roughly 7.2 Mill buys on PPV

But to be fair to Floyd, we are living in one of the worst economic droughts in recent history, so you gotta give him credit for pullin what he pulls (pause)

all those fights took place before the internet boom really took off...if they happened in todays world and in todays economy, they would do half

people would just figure "this fight is going to end in a first round KO, ill just save my money and watch it free on the internet"

the sales would drop by more than 50%

the only one that would have done good numbers in any time would be lewis/tyson, but even that would have done less numbers if it took place in 2010

BUT I strongly disagree with the TS....DLH...Tyson will forever be PPV kings...why? They gave the fans what they wanted....a good show....their skills will never be on the level of a Floyd Mayweather Jr....but they were exciting, they went for the kill....they appealed to the "casual fans"....and the "casual fans" are the ones who drive the PPV #s thru the roof....people paid to see Tyson bust up ANYONE....why...becuase they wanted to see him in action...even if it was for 1 minute....

Until Floyd starts going for the kill....his PPV numbers will start going downward if he fights anyone else not named Pacquiao.

I find it odd that the TS want's to measure Floyd against all-time and then uses the internet as a mean of measure.

This thread is a fail with the sole purpose of sucking off Floyd. "peeleft:

lol! if there's someone benefited from technology of today, Floyd is one of it. If youtube, forums, blogs doesnt exist do you think people would be interested with this Trash talking dude with some of the most boring fights?

                  failed.

TS has a point. If people want to watch a boxing fight now they can easily find a stream. My buddies many of whom are casual fans have never bought a ppv in thier life yet can complain about may pac not happening.

So basically, your factoring in non existant buyers?

Maybe the people watching a stream wouldn't have bought the fight if there wasn't a stream anyway?

Oscar managed to do 1.25 Million against Pac in this day and age in a fight considered a mismatch. Tyson will always be a bigger draw IMO, Tyson was a worldwide phenomenon at the time. He could fight anywhere around the world and he'd sell out.
