I think its reasonable to assume that he could have sold the same amount against Mosley given the same build up. Would Mayweather have been able to sell the same amount against Clottey? Probably not I wouldn't have thought. Mayweather sells when his opponents are perceived as threats. Pacquiao sells either way because the fight will be exciting whatever happens.

good night.... and it's ok to keep dreaming...

but pacquiao HAS fought DLH & Hatton and didn't do better than when mayweather fought them...........right? therefore...you're argument is based on your personal opinion as opposed to facts.

it's you that needs to wake up and smell the coffee/reality.

don't bother responding and not because i'm actually going to sleep, but because there's no way to come back from cold hard facts.

Your missing it man... It wasn't because of Mayweather, it was his opponent.

You don't have hard facts that it was because of Mayweather that did 2.4 mil. Oscar was the big draw not Mayweather.

Look at Mayweather's PPV numbers before Oscar's fight and look at all of Oscars PPV numbers. There is no comparison.

      Pacquiao-Hatton did 850,000 pay-per-view buys and Mayweather-Hatton did 920,000.

Your talking about 70k difference. And it was probably because more people wanted to see Mayweather lose than win.

Accept the fact that Mayweather has more Haters than fans.

      Those are your numbers.

Man even 1.5mil @ 49.95 is vs 1.2mil @ 54.95 is a 8 million dollar difference. It definately is 2 early but at the sametime how much could they have sold beyond domestic, it's not like they are waiting on the results of Sky Sports and ASB in the phillipines.

                  I agree with this ...

and lets be realistic any PPV fight above 1M is great numbers ...

current PPV stars Floyd has only 3 and Pac has only 2 of them PPVs above 1M...

Not bad numbers, but I expected more buys. UFC needs to put three title fights on the same card to get 1 million buys but this was a big fight. Boxing needs to start building more stars; MMA is producing more.

I wonder if "Money" Mayweather feels more inclined to fight Pac after getting these kind numbers with a name opponent like Shane. Martinez is a great fighter and would be a great opponent for Floyd but I'm not so sure this fight would produce a lot of money which is important to Floyd.

thats quite sad if its true. being one of the most hyped promotion trains i'v seen (prob one of the most because i keep tabs on it), it should have done around considerably more. If it was true a possible reason maybe is due to recession and the price of the fight, many peopled decided to watch together more or not buy it at all and just stream it instead?
