I want to hate Floyd, but I can't. He should be #1.

    4. Coming in overweight against (and even fighting) the lightweight Marquez

    5. Running from De La Hoya and turning what could have been a mainstream Rennaisance of boxing interest into just another snoozefest where the runner gets the benefit of the doubt.

    6. Fighing a 38 year old off 1.5 years(!) of inactivity.

But yeah, if you are a frontrunner who just roots for the fighters you think will win, Floyd is your guy. There is no question that he is a tremendous boxer.
Mayweather was coming off a sparring session, and? Had Mosley won, I would have given Mosley all the credit in the world.

P.S. Williams and Martinez beats Floyd. I'll make a thread explaining why soon.
Both have a shot, but both could easily be outpointed through 12 rounds.

Pretty good, heading back to school so I haven't had much time for boxing. I got back in to watch the Pavlik/Martinez fight and I'm going to Khan/Malignaggi. I doubt I'll be wasting much more time on the BS though, its just a race war the whole time

For the 2nd time in his career, Floyd was genuinely hurt. The first time was a stunner, the second time was serious. Floyd was on roller skates and if Shane would have given himself some space instead of smothering his punches, the possibility of a KO at the point was viable. Floyd survives the round. Walks back to his corner and has a strange expression of embarrassment on his face. Kind of like, "****, I looked really bad right now".

Bell rings and I'm expecting Floyd to go into full on counterpunching defensive mode off the back foot. He doesn't. He gets right in front of Mosley daring him throw a punch. At that moment, he's inside of Mosley's head. Now, Shane is hesitant. He knows that if he opens up, Floyd will counter him cleanly. Not only that, Floyd is out working him as well being the aggressor, but being economical with his approach (this is where it was frustrating for casual fans). So basically, Floyd gets checked pretty hard and responds by doing what he did against Judah, he became the methodical aggressor.

He completely dominated Shane after the 2nd round physically and mentally. It was impressive. Well, let me elaborate. I expect Floyd to decision Mosley in a safe boring manner. Just your typical Floyd win. But it wasn't like that. He was able to impose himself on Shane mentally nullifying anything Shane thought he could bring to the table. That in itself is impressive. THIS is why Shane got weak physically. Once the mind goes, the body goes. He was mentally convinced that his punches no longer had an effect on Floyd so they didn't.

The manner in which he handled shane was truly amazing. He didn't just cautiously and safely outpoint Shane, he overcame serious threat in the 2nd and went straight at Shane getting into his head. You saw everything that makes Floyd the fight that he is.

Detractors will point out Mosley's age as way to discredit Floyd's win. Lets keep it real here, though.

              Mosley was P4P #3.
              Mosley was the #1 WW

There was no opponent, other than Pac, that was better than Mosley. And Floyd DOMINATED him. These facts and the manner in which Floyd won, in my opinion, warrants the # 1 P4P status for him.

              Just my opinion though.

P.S. Williams and Martinez beats Floyd. I'll make a thread explaining why soon.
              RESPECT!

Tho i think Floyd beat both Williams and Martinez. Williams would look like the Ndou fight, Martinez i dont know but i saw his face when a journalist asked him about Martinez, and he made a face like he was saying ive seen the fight, i know i can get him.

a lot of people before this fight questioned floyd will to win ,heart and his toughness.

after seeing him make one of the toughest men in boxing retreat they have to respect that.

It just ****s all over what anyone else has done. And that's including Floyd.

I like Floyd but that doesn't mean I can put him up on a pedastal where he doesn't belong like all these other guys are doing.
                  .

If Floyd didn't retire the validity of him being number one is no question.

But with Floyd's win he deserves mad props!
