I want to hate Floyd, but I can't. He should be #1.

Going into this fight, I already knew he was going to outpoint Mosley. I even felt he would be able to catch Shane off guard and maybe even knock him down. But I didn't expect for the fight to unfold in the manner which it did.

For the 2nd time in his career, Floyd was genuinely hurt. The first time was a stunner, the second time was serious. Floyd was on roller skates and if Shane would have given himself some space instead of smothering his punches, the possibility of a KO at the point was viable. Floyd survives the round. Walks back to his corner and has a strange expression of embarrassment on his face. Kind of like, "****, I looked really bad right now".

Bell rings and I'm expecting Floyd to go into full on counterpunching defensive mode off the back foot. He doesn't. He gets right in front of Mosley daring him throw a punch. At that moment, he's inside of Mosley's head. Now, Shane is hesitant. He knows that if he opens up, Floyd will counter him cleanly. Not only that, Floyd is out working him as well being the aggressor, but being economical with his approach (this is where it was frustrating for casual fans). So basically, Floyd gets checked pretty hard and responds by doing what he did against Judah, he became the methodical aggressor.

He completely dominated Shane after the 2nd round physically and mentally. It was impressive. Well, let me elaborate. I expect Floyd to decision Mosley in a safe boring manner. Just your typical Floyd win. But it wasn't like that. He was able to impose himself on Shane mentally nullifying anything Shane thought he could bring to the table. That in itself is impressive. THIS is why Shane got weak physically. Once the mind goes, the body goes. He was mentally convinced that his punches no longer had an effect on Floyd so they didn't.

The manner in which he handled shane was truly amazing. He didn't just cautiously and safely outpoint Shane, he overcame serious threat in the 2nd and went straight at Shane getting into his head. You saw everything that makes Floyd the fight that he is.

Detractors will point out Mosley's age as way to discredit Floyd's win. Lets keep it real here, though.

    Mosley was P4P #3.
    Mosley was the #1 WW

There was no opponent, other than Pac, that was better than Mosley. And Floyd DOMINATED him. These facts and the manner in which Floyd won, in my opinion, warrants the # 1 P4P status for him.

    Just my opinion though.

P.S. Williams and Martinez beats Floyd. I'll make a thread explaining why soon.

i agree with you, i have no problem with people putting manny number one simply because he hasn't retired and continued to fight top competition.

but i like everyone thought floyd would get on the back foot and out box shane but never i mean never did i think he would pressure him it was impressive.

I loved the bravado Money showed after that second round scare, after seeing him come out of his stool in the third to stand toe to toe in the middle of the ring and becamome the aggressor and completely impose Mosley without even hurting him...that moment right there made me respect this man and become a newfound fan of his. This was exactly what I've been wanting to see Floyd do, stare down adversity and say "you know what mother ****er, I'm here, what's up now?" that's exactly that Floyd did and that made my night.

He still doesn't have the balls/want/heart to try and knock someone out unless it just happens with a counterpunch. I don't know why the dude won't let his hands go and close the show.
