Still aint buying this ****. Marquez got shut out by Mayweather, Diaz just lost for the 2nd time 2 Paulie & their fight go's 2 ppv??? Smh. Then you got Golden Boy throwing in this fat piece of **** Guzman vs Casamayor. That's not 2 appealing imo. If this is gonna be a Lightweight fight, I wonder if Guzman will be able 2 come in under 140 atleast.

Hold on for a second..why is Guzman on HBO again, after they said that he wont appear again until he get his "weight issues" resolved?...I mean..well...I guess after Funeka was caught in the post fight doping control..anything goes these days..it's all about $$$

i agree, Casamayor is over the hill already, not to many boxers can do a good comeback at that age. He might get KOed again this time...

Gooz-Casa will be at what weight? I think they can make 140.

This whole deal is a load of ****. Seriously. Think of it like this...

Katsidis loses to Casamayor, who gets stopped by Marquez. Katsidis goes on to lose to Diaz, who gets stopped by Marquez. Diaz goes on to lose (effectively) twice to Malignaggi, yet now has a shot at Marquez for all the titles at 135. What did fatboy do to deserve that opportunity? Oh, and Marquez got shut out by Mayweather.

Meanwhile, Katsidis wins 3 straight fights in '09 and claws his way back up the rankings. But instead of fighting for the undisputed LW championship which Marquez hasn't defended for 14 months, he's fighting Mitchell in his backyard for the interim WBO title. Raw deal, says I.

I mean, what the fuck is this ****? I used to like Diaz and Marquez, but they can go to hell. I actually hope Diaz trounces Marquez (like he was doing in the first fight), so that he can rematch Katsidis and get massacred.

I agree with most of your points. My only reservations are that 1. JMM should not be penalized for trying to move up and beat PBF. 2. If Katsidis and Diaz fight again that fight would pretty much go the same way that the first fight went. Katsidis is too stationary for Diaz. He would just get out boxed again. just my opinion.

Not penalised, but he shouldn't have hijacked all the titles for 14 months without defending them. Ideally he would've defended against Kats in February, which would mean that Kats-Mitchell would be for the world championship and not that silly interim trinket.

That Marquez went into hiding for so long after the Mayweather loss made him look really bad IMO. He had a mandatory obligation to fulfil, but couldn't be bothered. Anyone else would've been stripped of the title, but HBO/GBP must be protecting him.

It's possible, but there are several things that could point to a different outcome...

                1. Kats was fresh off the Casamayor loss, and seemed very gunshy even against a seemingly light-hitting Diaz. The latter was also coming off a loss, but looked a lot more hungry to perform in front of a Texan audience.

                2. Defence-wise, Kats has improved since the losses. He's tightened things up, mixes up his punches more, doesn't go for so many wild shots at a distance, and has started to let his hands go the old fashioned way (as we saw against Chavez and Escobedo). All he needs now is a consistent jab and he's ready for world domination. :laff2:

                3. Diaz has twice been utterly trounced in the past 2 years (Campbell, Malignaggi II) as well as stopped (Marquez) and by rights lost close a decision (Malignaggi I). Having had such a difficult past year, who knows where he's really at mentally. Also, his law studies surely take some of the focus away from his main career in the ring. Looking at his poor conditioning, it shows he lacks commitment to the sport.

                4. I still maintain that the first Diaz-Kats fight was quite close (115-113 or 116-112 being realistic), so who knows what could happen in a second encounter. Once old man Marquez is out of the way, I hope this rematch can be made - with all LW titles on the line.

I think you pretty much made the point Against Katsidis. I hate to over simplify but he lost to two guys that Marquez knocked out. The Diaz fight shouldn't have been close Katsidis got blown out IMO. I agree that this fight is bull**** but a fight with Katsidis would not be any better. The reasons this fight is. Going through is that the first fight was FOY and they are both of Mexican descent its a blatant attempt at a payday. There is no meaningful fight for Marquez at lightweight but he. Got scared out of moving up to 140 by his fight against Mayweather. I think its time for a Morales Marquez fight at 140 and retirement.

I wouldnt be so harsh to critize Marquez his last six opponents include floyd, diaz, casa, pac, rocky, and barrera.

i would have perfered it as well if he fought katsidis instead of doing a rematch against j.diaz. especially considering the fact that unofficially he is on a two fight losing streak. Not to mention katsidis is a very winnable fight for Marquez

Marquez didnt take a beating against floyd; loss clearly but it wasnt a punishing loss physically but he was out of depth at welter and needs a confidence builder fight
