I just watched the fight, over slept so wasn't able to see it live..It was a great technical fight for the first 3, I thought Hasegawa had the edge but I could tell Montiel was taking this very serious. Montiel has a tendency to **** around in fights and lose focus, I saw none of that tonight. I initial shots that hurt Hasegawa were super fast and accurate, Montiel jumped on him and rocked his head up with a left uppercut I believe and started unloading. The stoppage was proper because not only was Hasegawa hurt on the ropes taking shots but also his left hand was stuck on the ropes with no way to defend himself.

Montiel has been one of my favorites for the last 10 years, sometimes looking brilliant and other times playing around to much with his hands down getting caught by fighters who he should have no problem with. Hopefully now they put Montiel in the top 10 P4P, I think he's been worthy since dominating Martin Castillo.

ok, dude. you conceded that you dont have a problem with the stoppage. then you infer that hozumi shouldve been allowed to continue.
      whatever.

I said I don't have a big issue with the stoppage, if I didn't have an issue at all I wouldn't have typed what I typed.

ok then, say that you dont have a big problem with the stoppage and leave it at that. none of this "time of the round" or "magnitude of the fight" stuff.
otherwise, you are inferring that you still do have a problem with the stoppage.

actually hozu and montiel are both talented guys. why are you getting so upset over the fact that some people like hasegawa more than montiel? i didn't know everyone had to like the same fighters as you

Dammit, looks like I gotta admit that Montiel was a better boxer tonight in the ring. He was the guy of the two who was more focused, better conditioned, more experienced and more determined. Kudos. That is all I can say to Montiel.

The sweetest redemption for Jhonny. Why doesn't Montiel come up in weight and fight Nishioka in his home turf of Mexico sometime this year? It'll sure as hell be a majestic showdown for both Japan and Mexico.
