None of this makes sense to me. His punching doesn't change as far as his adapting to his opponent but the form of his punching changes? Is that what you're trying to say? I didn't see any evidence in that fight where he lost his punching composure or his form changed. Every time he got hit (which was mainly on the ropes because Abbie did NOTHING in the middle of the ring or in counterpunching oppotunities) he would take the shot, fight off the ropes with combos, bodyshots, or uppercuts, and reset. I really saw nothing to support your claim.
he def tried to do other stuff
tryed to mix up his shots
but they werent workin
they were just meaningless flurries
i cant say it any clearer then
they go from crisp clean shots to sloppy punches that miss more then land

I understand the part about him throwing flurries and a good deal of punches being blocked, but those weren't pitty-pat flurries...like Shane Mosely threw at Wright in their first fight when he figured out that he couldn't do anything with Winkys defense. Some of those punches from the combos or flurries did in fact get through and you saw the damage from them.
I don't think his punches were sloppy as much as they were just blocked or located wrong. The only punches I saw him using to size up Abbie was the occasional uppercut that missed but that's because he was trying to catch his man leaning in.
I like Cotto but I thought Chop would give him some problems and he did and tonight I thought he looked even worst. The HBO commentators were kissing his ass as usual and alot of you fans thought he looked great but I didnt. I thought he looked on a level below the top guys and I dont think he can beat any of them right now. Tonight I thought he moved way too much and his D still isnt all that. If another fighter did that then HBO wouldve said that he was almost running. Joel did the same thing in the first fight and they were saying that he was running to much. If he fought a guy with more speed then he wouldve been in trouble.
Honestly right now I see him losing to every top fighter at 147, and to Floyd, Hatton, Harris, and Chico. I also may throw in guys like Witter and Gatti but I doubt Gatti.
I liked Cotto but while you guys are thinking he's looking better, Im thinking he's looking worst every fight. I think it's going to be real interesting to see what his promoters do because I still dont think he is ready for Harris or Hatton and those are the 2 that he would probally fight. I actually think that he matches up with Hatton better then any of those other fighters but I will still give the edge to Hatton just because of the Tszyu win.
I think he's good but still not ready yet. What do you guys think?
I knew you would come with this ****, the author of "Give X fighter the respect he deserves if he beats X fighter" threads, but when Cotto TKO a good fighter that in many ppls opinion was undefeated you don't give Cotto the respect he deserves..
I've just logged on so I dont know yet if my worse su****ion is true or not, and that is that alot of people are still dissing Cotto?? I have to say that I'me very impressed with his performance and it definately made up for his less than perfect 'showing' in his last fight...and I'm really lookign forward to his next one! I'm a little suprised that Abdullaev just quit right in the middle of a rd., but he was clearly losing that fight.
ive said id like 2 see cotto-hatton
get rid of one of these left hookin kids
theyre pretty much the same
cept hattons proven hes got a chin, took shots from KT
cotto has showd me he may not have sucha good chin
and i dont think he can deal with pressure
which oww whats hattons best attribute? hes relentless
gatti does get hit alot
but hell box when he needs too
plus he just hits way harder den cotto and can link combinations togethers alot smoother
mayweather starting to get it more
but not enough for cotto to do anythin
hes still mayweather
Lol
Tszyu retired didnt he?
and if he didnt
he should not just cuz of the loss to hatton
but hes too old
ive never seen harris
so i dont consider him a top guy
You sir are a ****in bafoon, you really think that Gatti hits alot harder than Cotto? REALLY? Cause I am of the thinking that Cotto is easily the bigger stronger faster fighter when compared to Gatti.
And as far as Hatton having such a great chin I take it you haven't seen the Eamonn Magee Ricky Hatton fight, you know the one where Hatton was dropped in the first rd and hurt again in the second rd. So I'd say that Cotto's little weeble wobble against Chop Chop isn't that big a deal!
I'm not sayin Cotto ain't talented, and he does have lots of potential...
The only way to get a big name is by fighting big names which I hope he does next...
Lol, so many people predicted that he'd beat Cotto, even totally outbox him. I told a friend just yesterday that I hoped Cotto won convincingly enough to make all the nay-sayers stop saying nay, but I dont know if that will happen regardless of who he beats. Anyway, I'm proud of the young fella and the only thing I could find fault with last night was him laying on the ropes (occasionally) which was just about the only time that Abdullaev was able to get much done.
