If Abdullaev was busier he would have had more up on Cotto. Cotto still has some flaws he needs to work on but what fighter doesnt. Overall I believe while it was a decent fight both fighters could have done more.

I liked Cotto but while you guys are thinking he's looking better, Im thinking he's looking worst every fight.
That's b/c with every fight he is fighting better and better competition so the skill level is starting to even out. There is no question about his talent, however he is still a work in progress. He needs these fights to learn and grow from them. I think this fight with Abdullaev was a perfect matchup for him and taught him the importance of his jab. He doesn't have to soley rely on that left hook and power. He mixed it up perfectly, keeping Abdullaev on the outside while still throwing plenty of combinations and going to the body frequently. His opponent was no slouch. As he continues to fight better comp, he's probably not going to look more spectacular. Its all about game plan and execution for him, and keeping his cool which he seems to do very well. The only knock on Cotto I would say is that he leaves himself open for about 1 or 2 sec and any good fighter will exploit that, as was seen in this fight when Miguel was caught with a couple of hard shots. There is a bright future for this kid, I just hope they continue to make good decision making on matching him up with the right fighters. I've never seen Harris fight so I couldn't give you any comment on that, but from what I've heard he's pretty good so it might make for a good fight.

i think top rank has matched him up so dam perfectly its amazing, its a mental thing to, the gy who last beat him, gets TKO'd, along with the gy who beat him twicein the amatuers (pinto)

The only thing I can say about Cotto's defense is that he gets hit with the righthand too much. Other than that his defense is pretty good. I thought he fought the best fight to minimize Abdullaev's strengths.

The HBO commentators were kissing his ass as usual and alot of you fans thought he looked great but I didnt. I thought he looked on a level below the top guys and I dont think he can beat any of them right now. Tonight I thought he moved way too much and his D still isnt all that. If another fighter did that then HBO wouldve said that he was almost running. Joel did the same thing in the first fight and they were saying that he was running to much. If he fought a guy with more speed then he wouldve been in trouble.

Honestly right now I see him losing to every top fighter at 147, and to Floyd, Hatton, Harris, and Chico. I also may throw in guys like Witter and Gatti but I doubt Gatti.

I liked Cotto but while you guys are thinking he's looking better, Im thinking he's looking worst every fight. I think it's going to be real interesting to see what his promoters do because I still dont think he is ready for Harris or Hatton and those are the 2 that he would probally fight. I actually think that he matches up with Hatton better then any of those other fighters but I will still give the edge to Hatton just because of the Tszyu win.

I think he's good but still not ready yet. What do you guys think?
exactyl what i said after this fight
people are still jocken his nutz
            to me
he just doesnt seem to know what to do when hes gettin hit and not landing exactly what he wants
he seems to lose his composer
            not his facial and body
            but his punches change
they do from beautful crisp percise shots that are what define him
to sloppy flurries that dont land flush
plus his defense wasnt all that great tonite
            based purely on the fight
id say abduleav came out lookin the better prospect
            skillwise

What are you talking about?? That's one of his best attributes his composure. When he sees that something isn't working, He changes it up. Like what he did last night. He started using his jab and the straight right hand because of the way Abby was holding his arms up.

Nobody ever said he could fly, he fought a gold medal guy, had a chess match, no problem at all, was he suppose to KO him the first 3 RD's? Cottos a boxer, a counter puncher, and Abbie never opened himself up, styles and fight plans change.

Cotto did have lots of flaws...

If Abdullaev had MORE power, he would have knocked Miguel Cotto out....

Abdiel2k3, I agree with you bro..

                      What were his other flaws?

Besides the susceptibility to the right upstairs, I saw NO real weaknesses in Cotto last night. He had a tough guy in front of him and he adapted to pummel this guy and turn his face into one big swelling...
