Those gyms closing down might be due to other factors such as the economy or government hurting small businesses right? There seems to be less and less hospitals in the United States too.
Sure, those could be partial factors. However, it still ultimately equates to less participation. If someone doesn't have a gym to go to then they're going to take up a different sport.
