I could not have said it any better. Keep in mind that a kid can get a full scholarship to attend college just playing basketball or football. This means if he never makes it to the pros, he has an education to fall back on.
No boxer has ever been given a scholarship for college. Most boxers work full time jobs to support themselves while they pursue their dream of becoming that boxer that can make a good liveable salary. Keep in mind that most never accomplish this goal. The typical pay scale of a professional boxer just starting out is only $100 a round.
When you take all of this into account, basketball and football are much better options for young and big athletic Americans.
Pro Basketball and Football come with guaranteed $$$$$$$$ before playing your first f--ing game. Boxing in the U.S. just can't compete with that.
Here's what Pro Boxing could do though.. go after the kids who don't make it to the big leagues. Would make a decent farm system.. as you have built in athleticism to start and there's a reward of $$$ for the kid at the end of the tunnel for a successful run. This goes for White and Black Americans. The Heavyweights of tomorrow are in those sports.Comment

This is also something to consider. The lowest paid NFL and NBA players that are not famous make 6 figure salaries. Why would a large and athletic American athlete want to invest his time and sweat into a sport like boxing when it offers the lowest profit potential.Comment

The HW division is my favourite, and Haye and the Klitschkos are the beltholders, it's only natural that I talk about them the most. Though I talk about other divisions sometimes too
