American History begins with an intersting paradox.
It seems that most of the original American "Patriots" had certain allegiances with England, but betrayed the Mother Country. Therefore, the Patriots were also "Traitors" in the eyes of the English.
Similarly, Benedict Arnold is universally seen as the Traitor poster-boy right? Wrong, his grave marker in England recognizes his great contribution to the Mother Country. What did he do? Exactly the same as the so-called Patriots. He swore certain allegiances, and then conspired against them. He was a Patriot to England and a Traitor to America.
This little piece of history cannot be ignored. England built the American colony and paid for the colony (otherwise it might France's or Spain's today?) and what happens? Traitors all?
