I was watching Fight Camp 360 again last night. I noticed a very bad technical flaw in Andre Dirrell. It was so much more clear in slo-mo. Well, several flaws, but I'll talk about just one. But it also got me to thinking about how some of these guys made it to the top with really bad technical flaws that a PAL trainer would fix in Day 2 of training.
Andre Dirrell 'wings' his jab. like a chicken wing opening. Instead of pumping it, he sort of jackknifes it. His elbow is like a lever. And that takes the power and accuracy out of it.
Shane Mosley clubs his punches. Both his overhand right, and his left hook. If you watch in slo-mo, you can actually see him hitting Margarito with the thumb area of his gloved fist. He doesn't turn over the punches.
Manny Pacquiao is unbalanced when he throws a straight left, and he wrong-foots it a lot. Which is almost scary when you think about how much power he generates off the wrong foot.
WHAT ARE THE OBVIOUS TECHNICAL FLAWS YOU SEE IN TOP FIGHTERS? not stylistic faults. but things that they teach you NOT to do in Day 1 of boxing class.
