If fight decisions were ONLY based on punch stats...... I would agree with you.
The problem is that thrown/landed stats that we see play no roll in the judging. Those are for fan knowledge but the judges aren't privy to those stats in the course of scoring a fight.
Judges establish their own punches landed opinion and use that as a part of the overall judging criterion in determining the winner of a fight.
Had Oscar stayed behind his jab in the 9th-12th rounds against Floyd and contiuned to press the fight a bit.... he could have possibly earned 2 of the last 4 rounds.
In doing so Oscar could have won the fight on the score cards..... and been way behind in the fight according to punch stats.
Mayweather cannot affort to give away early rounds like he did with Oscar. If he does you will see the biggest display of poor sportsmanship on Floyds part for claiming he won the fight according to punchstats but losing the fight on the cards for not engaging enough early in the fight.
