I would remember him in and out of the ring. In the ring I'll remember a fighter that naver had to face a decent fighter but was able to gather two titles. An untested champion!
I will remember him as a good fighter, one with a lot of heart in the ring, he fought even though he lost a lot of blood and had an awful gash against DeMarco, he became a world Champion and even defended his crown so imo he was a well accomplished fighter on the verge of breaking his barriers keeping him from being one of the best of his time.. I'd tell them what he did to his wife and himself but I'd also let him know that while what is being said of him is horrible, things about the actions he committed we must remember that's just what's said and we actually will never know the REAL truth, we don't know why he did it, just like Chris Benoit and many others we simply don't know why we can only make smart decisions in our day to day and use their experiences as indications of what we shouldn't do in our own lives..
honestly this whole day I been having mixed feelings, part of me was mad at him for doing all of this, another part felt like maybe there's more to it but in then end I'm just sad man, real talk I feel sad that he isn't here no more, I wish he could have changed his ways and lived a decent life but that wasn't the case, there's a reason for what happened that I will never know so in light of that I feel it's just best to turn my face on it, I wasn't there and I don't TRULY know what happened for myself therefore I just refuse to comment anymore on it, may they both R.I.P..
Outside of Venezuela, Valero is barely a blip on the average sports fan's radar -- even now. Only hard-core boxing fans will remember him. I can just picture a scenario like this playing out in some local pub, over a beer: "Remember Edwin Valero? The guy had an amazing streak of first round knockouts. In fact, he knocked out everyone he faced. What a fighter. Now, there's a guy who could've been the best." "Wasn't he the guy who killed his wife, then hanged himself in his jail cell?" "Yeah." Both guys shake their heads and take another swig of their beer....
kids gonna be asking about him??? i would be shocked if any kids anywhere ask about him but if it were to happen to me i would say he was a boxer with potential but threw it all away by becoming a coward piece of crap by killing his young wife and himself. Robbing his kids of a normal childhood... I would tell it like it is!
of course not. But edwin valero's death & story is more tragic than salvador sanchez in my opinion. At least sanchez greatness was somewhat realized. He has 4 wins vs 3 hall of famers & had over 40 fights. Valero obviously had potential but never had a chance to go up against a great fighter & ended killing himself, his wife, & leaving behind 2 kids under the age of 10.
Who's fault is that? He did have a chance. He chose another path. And Sanchez didn't murder his wife or choose to kill himself.
so he kills his wife yesterday and today takes his own life what a tragedy and all you haters can only talk smack instead you should be praying that you make better choices than what he made god forbid that you haters go through what he did so dont pass judgment on him or on any one else its not your place what he did in the ring has nothing to do with his personal life stay out of his personal business.

When you're a public figure and you murder your wife and commit suicide, it's no longer your "personal business". Welcome to the real world.
