There are alot of different stratagies that I see being discussed here, but one of the key things that I have not seen anyone touch on is the jab to the body. This is a very important punch that a Boxer must employ if he wants to stop the lateral movement of his opponent. Shane's tendency to load up and head hunt will hurt him against Floyd, as well as the fact that Shane also tends to leave his feet when he delivers these power punches, both of these things do not boade well for Shane.
Now Floyd however does jab to the body and he does it "effectively". This is going to keep Shane off balance, and make him reset as Shane can only fight coming forward and with his feet set. Someone earlier elluded to Shane's footwork asking if he had bad footwork or was he just slowing down because of age as well as the lack of proper bend in his knees as he throws his shots; another poster answered that Shane has to be set to deliver his powers shots. This is very true, and as the responding poster said that the power is coming from the legs and hips, this is also true, but Shane not having the proper bend in his knees IS taking away from his power and also leaves him with no way to pivot or slip anything that returns from his opponent. That my friends is bad news, and the reason why it is bad news is that Shane has a habit of using his hands to avoid punches. This is NOT what you want to do against Floyd, as you are just giving him your body to shoot the "jab to the body or the straight right" that he likes to shoot as he is moving out of postion. This small detail will be the catalysis to a shocking Boxing clinic put on by Floyd if Shane does not pay close attention to his(Shane) Boxing habits, as well as if he does not make adjustments. Shane's speed, power, and ring IQ is what gives him a great chance at beating Floyd, but Shane's bad habits coupled with his low emotional resiliency threshold(which gets Shane off of the gameplan) will outweigh his attributes.
I leave ya'll with a parting thought though. If both fighters had to fight this fight without any seconds(trainer, cutman, ect....), who would you pick?????????????
