Damn right! But Lyle is a nuthugger.

"In fact, rather than the patsies he’s said to have gorged upon while dodging perilous rivals, the conquered roll call includes a Jones-like list of elites (Corrales, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez), near-elites (Judah, Castillo, Hernandez, Gatti) and serviceable stuffing since he first emerged at age 21 in 1998."

So,Corrales,Hatton,an over the hill De La Hoya,a blown up lightweight JMM
are as good as wins over a young Hopkins,a prime Toney,a close to his prime Hill, and a still competitive Mc Callum???

Thanks Lyle.I didn't knew that at all.

floyd is fighting a 40 year old man. just came of a win over a 37 year old featherweight. he has ducked the top fighters his whole career. he is cared to death of losing his 0. and he knows pac is the only man who has a legitimate chance of taking it. so it will be any excuse to wiggle himself out the fight. period.

Hahaha.... what this journalist is saying is spot on - Floyd doesn't get the recognition he deserves from most boxing fans, and to a lesser extent, neither did Roy at his peak (his career 2004 onwards seems like it unfortunately taken a lot away from his legacy though). I think the main reason the majority of fans will be rooting for Shane though, is actually nothing to do with Mayweathers resume. It's the fact that he comes across most of the time as a bit of a ****, while Shane seems like a down to earth nice guy (which he seems to play on to his advantage a bit, but he does seem like a genuine dude). I'm a massive Mayweather fan, but he doesn't do himself any favours a lot of the time with his bad attitude. I'm all for some bravado and trash talking, its part of boxing, but people like Ali did it a lot more tongue in cheek. Naseem Hamed (who knew how to trash talk with a glint in his eye) was talking about Mayweather in an interview on british TV a couple of years ago, and what he said was spot on - Floyd could be one of the greatest of all time, but he turns people away from him with his attitude - he could have a lot more fans than he does.

          ¿Hatton elite?

¿How does he have Hatton on the elite group & Judah on the almost elite?..I think it should be the other way around...

            Who's who

I see alot off black fighters don't get the credit they deserve. why do i say that? look at kelly pavlik, beats jt twice and now he's a elite fighter, fought bhop and got punish, when on after to win 1 or 2 fights, and now thats memory is erased. kelly only fought 1 great fighter and 1 good jt and edison miranda. know look at floyds list of fighters he's fought and look at roys. between the two you have at least 10 hall of famers or more. but people are critical of both roy and floyd, they did ali the same way, but know ali is a god in boxing now. jack johnson, sam langford and list goes on. A FIGHTER IS A FIGHTER NO MATTER WHAT COLOR HE IS BUT WHEN YOU ARE GREAT HISTORY WILL SPEAK FOR ITSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

              Enough with this crappy writer

This writer (Fitzy the bard) is a joke, can't he talk about something else than how beautiful, awesome and purely perfect his great Mayweather is:wank: (here's for the pathetic and loser)? Not that Mayweather isn't good, nor either that Roy isn't an icon of boxing, that's all fine. Just that you being a sycophant for those boys is of absolutely no interest for the boxing public (not for me anyway and it seems to be the general mood since eveybody is blasting you). Plus, you're doing it in such a dishonest manner that this is becoming tiring.

              Examples:
-How did Roy "conquer" 4 categories? He won TITLES in 4 categories, that's quite different from "conquering" 4 categories. Working at boxingscene, you should know the difference...

-How is Marquez a quality win for Mayweather, when Trinidad wouldn't count as one for Hopkins?

The examples can go on and on but I didn't bother to finish reading the text, it's just getting tiring.

Pathetic and loser corner tells you that this writer is delusional. Please boxingscene, get rid of him.

for the *******s: “The drug testing has been thorough. They have come four times already and taken blood twice and urine twice. They just show up randomly to take it, but they come during normal hours. It’s not like they are showing up in the middle of the night, and they haven’t disrupted my training. In the end I think the testing is a good thing to change our sport. - Shane Mosley

Your excuse is no longer valid. Now what? no more excuses.

Pathetic and loser corner tells you that this writer is delusional. Please boxingscene, get rid of him.
Why,cause he's telling the truth? don't get rid of him,NOT everybody thinks like Arthurius.

manny was avoiding marquez?!?!? LOL. seriously, if the same version of marquez showed up for manny at 147, marquez would have got OBLITERATED.
anybody who thinks otherwise needs a reality check. yes, pac & jmm needed a third fight to settle the arguments, but manny already established himself as a WW... manny wasnt going back down, and marquez isnt effective at WW. so why bother with a 3rd fight at this point??? bottom line, pac WON the 2nd fight with jmm (arguably)... same thing as floyd WON against castillo (arguably)... let it go. LOL

to put things in perspective, marquez went up 2 weightclasses to FIGHT floyd...
imagine if floyd jumps up 2 weightclasses to fight P-Will or Pavlik,
how about a catch-weight with any of the super six fighters???
could you imagine floyd doing that? IT WONT HAPPEN. if floyd went up to fight any of those guys and lost, they would get the same criticism as floyd when he fought jmm. p4p or not, it was still a mismatch (on paper, at least).

if manny fought valero, IMO, manny would get the same criticism as floyd... only difference is, EVERYONE knows pac vs valero would be a FIRE FIGHT. people would be so damn impressed with the action it wouldnt even matter... plus, valero (with proper training) could handle manny's power.

in contrast, floyd vs jmm was a fight with 2 DEFENSIVE fighters... and the bigger man didnt KO the vulnerable smaller man... it was a slow paced sparring match for 12 rounds. only BOXING purists would enjoy floyds performance... me being one of them. the most exciting part of that fight was the post fight interview. LOL

I'm not a fan of his but I'm in awe of him as a fan of boxing. He's just been such a **** in his twilight years that he's turned off a lot of the public. Couple that with his more frequent failures in the last 5-7 years (terrible in the terrible Matrix 2, terrible rap career, terrible announcer, terrible losses by KO) and you get a public that forgets how special he was at one point.

Mayweather is a different beast all together. He's just an unlikable dude (by his own design, I'm sure the guy is quite affable when the cameras are off). Many of us fans are disappointed by how he (VERY safely) has steered his career. For myself, I look at him with disappointment because I see his talent yet, I don't see him exploit it or let it elevate him to something greater. The JMM fight was an example of a guy that was collecting a paycheck. He could have "gone for it" at any point and wowed the fans in a similar way that Roy Jones used to do but he safely let it play out until it went to the cards. You can still be entertaining while you dominate. See: 90's Roy Jones Jr, 80's Tyson et al. Mayweather can't be bothered. Anyone shelling out $50 for his fights has a legitimate gripe.

It's not that Mayweather isn't great, he's just disappointing to those of us that recognize how much greater and more interesting he could be IN the ring.

(I understand he's 40-0. If you're bringing that up, you're missing the essence of my post. Of course, I don't expect many of you racist, ****phobic mongoloids to understand it anyway.)
                    GREAT educated post.

No. Because Fitzsimmons writes all of his articles with Floyd's balls in his mouth. Of course people don't like Floyd he is the most arrogant, selfish, money hungry, unintelligent athlete on the planet.

His big wins over elite fighters. LYLE YOU FORGET TO MENTION.
                      1. Hatton- He made come up to 147 to fight him. Hatton is not an elite 147lber and in his only other fight at the weight arguably lost to Collazo.
                      2. Marquez- ARE YOU ****ING SERIOUS. He made him come up to a catch weight of 144 and then Floyd missed weight and came in at 146lbs. Marquez is a top p4p at 135 and below. NOT AT 147 LYLE. HOW DO YOU THINK HE WOULD DO AGAINST MOSLEY, COTTO, MARGARITO, PWILL AND PAC AT THAT WEIGHT.
                      3. Oscar was over the hill and Floyd won a boring split decision.

                      The other fighters.
                      1. Judah had just lost to a terrible Baldomir and is a mental midget who has lost to most of the top ww's.
                      2. Gatti had been through so many wars and was not even close to still being a second tier fighter. The guy had nothing left.

LYLE FITZSIMMONS YOU MUST GET PAID BY FLOYD TO WRITE THIS ****. DO YOUR ****ING HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU WRITE YOUR NEXT ARTICLE.
