Its not tht boxing fans are agianst a cleaner sport but the sport already has drug testing and its done on a pretty much State by State bases...

Now tell me this, if Olympic style drug testing was to be put in place, who would pay for all the test for every pro fighter? To get each person tested it cost thousands of dollars and to test a pro whos 0-1 who wont make 1 grand for that fight is not gonna happen.

So there will NEVER be Olympic style drug testing in boxing, maybe a blood test instead of a urine test at best

Why it's not in boxing, I will never know.

I think it's simply because all the Pac fans ***** about it.
The thing is boxing is so disorganized, each state and each boxing commision makes thier own rules as to how the fight is to be handled, unlike say baseball were every guy has to take the same test from minors to majors.

Plus testing in baseball, basketball and football is pretty much the same as in boxing. Baseball was pressured to make any PED test because 104 player tested positive in 1 year making it rampid. Boxing doesnt have that problem. The boxing commisions dont give a ***** that one man accuses another. If figthers start failing test then boxing will be pressured to step up.

Plus since when does a contender make such demands?....its like a minor league pitcher demanding Alex Rodriguez take a PED test or otherwise he is not pitching to him

The IBF should stripped Povetkin off his mandatory status.

It is obviously he does not want to fight against Wlad.

LMAO.... First of all, you can ask for testing at the championship level at the minimum... Noone is talking about universal testing. You can also randomly test other non-championship level fights, so the program would not cost much. It is important to have the threat of rigorous testing more than the actual testing.

Second, if the Olympic system is already in place and processes thousands of athletes a year, it would cost very little in addition to monitor 100 or so top fights a year.

Anyhow, I hope Wlad agrees to this, so that this rigorous testing becomes a norm.

Looks like Povetking team is trying to come up with an additional excuse not to fight Wlad. I think they would pull out from the fight if Wlad refuses to take tests.

I am disappointed in Povetkin's manager once again.

drug testing is not that expensive....drug tests using urine cost @ $300/person in construction.every company pays for it if they want it.a test for an athlete I'm sure isn't much different.if there is millions on the line what's a couple hundred bucks?

Wlad should dump Povetking AND agree to WADA testing in a fight with David Haye!

Well that wouldnt be fair and it wouldnt be a system if only 1% of fighters are tested. Im pretty sure it wouldnt be fair if the top 10 homerun hitters in baseball are the only ones being tested. Its either everyone or nobody

Plus Olympic Testing in the Olympics is Financed by the Olympic Committy...i Highly doubt they would pay for hundreds of fighter, so that cost would be up to the State Athletic Commision

Life is unfair in any case ....However, I do think it would be MORE FAIR to test the top athletes, and randomly test a small percent of the others, in contrast to NOT testing at all.

Yea but your being tested for illegal recreational drugs not pretty much every performence inhancing drug possible.

But lets look at it your way....if each test cost $300, and each fighter takes 4 random ones during thier training then it cost $1200. Another thing is that for Olympic testing, each person being tested must provide his location at all times for the duration of the testing......so if that doesnt sound expensive to me i dont know what is
