I would not doubt Wlad taking these tests if this was the first time Povetkin's team would push out such rediculous demands BUT when they originally signed for the fight back in 08, Povetkins team came out with 52! points of demand from the contract, from such nefarious things like the size of the ring and the brand of gloves, to where they wanted the fight to take place, and the order of national anthems. I am yet to see this sort of arrogance from another contender level fighter. So, I would not be surprised to see Wlad get pissed and tell em to **** off.

I did some google-fu.

1) In Germany, there is the NADA (Nationale Anti-Doping-Agentur). They control at random, during training and during events, on olympic-style-level - but only those branches of sport, which get money from public resources (i.e. TV money revenue). After the big cycling scandals, the TV-stations are very strict with this. They even dropped the Tour de France off the program, when scandals resurfaced three years in a row.

Boxing does not get a regular share of the TV-money, so there was no regular and random testing until 2007. The BDB (Bund Deutsche Brufsboxer, professional boxers' association) tries or tried to get their own system of testing, but that would be below the level of the NADA (which is on the level of WADA or IOC). So there was a kind of controversity betrween BDB and NADA in 2007.

Good information. But actually, ther are workarounds for any policies of BDB or any country's national professional boxing organisations. Remember Holyfield was fighting Valuev in Switzerland? For Swiss's boxing federation policies Holyfield was too old to fight. The solution was: keep the venue in Switzerland, but get the neigboor Austrian boxing authority to license this fight. The same way goes Ahmet Öner's "Arena Box Promotions". BDB stripped their license. And Öner is still promoting fights, still in Germany, but under the supervision of Latvian boxing federation.

That's why drug tests must be an issue in contract. And I have no doubt, Kltischkos have no fear of needles. Klitschkos demonstrated it appearing in "Fit and geimpft" ("fit and vaccinated") T-Shirts for Chagaev fight. This was after Valuev refused to get a vaccination against Hepatitis a day before the fight (as requested by Finnish boxing authority), and Valuev-Chagaev II was cancelled on short notice because of that.
