Oscar De LeHoya: What has he ever done to warrant ATG status?

He had to win those fights to get to the elite status of fighters. Controversial scores against Quartey and past prime Whitaker don't help. Oscar's best win to me was over Vargas. And that was after Trinidad ruined Vargas IMO. He did have a great left hand but his right was not really used effectively until after he hired Floyd Mayweather sr.

I guess it depends on what you call an ATG, if you are talking top 20 or top 50, Oscar may not make that. If you are listing the top 100 fighters ever, there's no way you leave Oscar off that and that makes him an ATG to me, not to mention the fact he kept the sport relevant after Tyson and before Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Well he's beaten future HOF's and he's beaten them unquestionably. As Lampley put it "these are not close fights....where Floyd's dominance is somehow being questioned"
If you question Floyd's claim to ATG status, then Pac's claim is certainly questionable......no matter how you slice it their resume's are equal, and in fact i would almost favour Floyd's resume........additionally Pac's dominance has been questioned on more than one occassion.

As much as i don't like him he is better than Trinidad and Mosley. Trinidad had limited footwork, a quality fighter with good movement who can smother his left would always give him problems. As for Mosley i thought he lost to ODLH the second time and he was juiced to the gills----> EPO, THG, Modanofil and Testosterone.........

His contributions outside the ring have definitely impact the sport, especially the impact on the marketing/promotional effort for the sport. He's also has created schools and business ventures in his community.
SO...maybe he is an all time great when it comes to envdevours in and out the ring.

Well he's going to the HOF period and he should because of his accomplishments and big fights.
Unfortunately, he won't be called and ATG. But credit given to him for the fights he has fought (even if just for high profile money).
Just imagine had he WON all his big fights....
Mosley - undefeated, top P4Per
Mosley 2
Hopkins - MW champ, top P4P
Trinidad - undefeated, top P4P
Mayweather - undefeated, top P4P
Vargas
Whitaker
Chavez
Pacquiao - top P4P
Quartey
whew...imagine that...
