Valueless was a lousy champion, so that was part of the sell to HBO that a relative old man, albeit a legend, would have a chance. It was a hotdog fight, just not very hot! Holyfield is still a decent payday as Botha demostrates, not remotely a serious contender however.
heavyweight division is at it weakest ever!

Agree 100%. Those guys don't bring any entertainment to the ring. It's the only time you can go to a fight and it's about as loud as a golf tournament in the crowd.I like Wlad and Vitali and no I don't need an American champion for the division to be exciting. But I do feel that the division is the weakest in boxing next maybe the minimum weight and strawweight divisions.
And it's not because the K brothers are European it's because none of their fights are exciting and neither are the contenders who fight each other. The division is boring as a whole.
HW division has nothing going for it, and it shows in the numbers.
The snooze brothers are fighting in small European countries and can't sell out a crowd.
If those guys were exciting, people would love them - American's aren't like other countries. We're a melting pot. TBH the only people I hear crying racism is Europeans.
We love our exciting fighters from all over South America, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Philippines, Italy, Japan, etc...
For some reason these Euro-Huggers think we American's have some agenda against them and sadly that isn't the case - it's just that nobody likes those fighters. Get over it.Comment

David Haye vs. either Klitschko will be a big fight and the division needs it.
Adamek vs. Haye would be a big fight for the HW division.
Povetkin vs. Haye or Adamek would be a good fight.
It's really about the Klitschkos. To good for the division and would have been better off in some other eras. Not their fault. It happens to most HW elites really at one point or another. There are some decent HWs right now they could face but even if some have a shot at beating either of them...it's not much. Haye might stand the best chance but you have people ripping on him as if he wasn't good so what does that say?
Exciting eras for HW with a loaded division really only had maybe two. Ali's era and 90's.
It's just harder to find good HWs that can fill a top 10 like other divisions.
I would really like to see the NFL, NBA, Rugby leagues all banned. Then we can have a loaded HW division possibly. But remember, those athletes chose not to go into boxing in favor of more lucrative deals in their chosen sport.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 03-31-2010, 07:49 PM.Comment

The best part about being a boxing fan in America, is we're so diverse we don't feel the need to cling to our fellow countrymen for dear life, as if we have some kind of bond to them. If they're not good, we say it.
Look at all the hate Floyd gets on here, mostly from Americans.
Do you know why? Because, for the most part, he is boring, although I do feel he is much more exciting to watch than either K brother.
You are a typical Euro hugger. You have a blind loyalty to fighters strictly because they're from your part of the world. Hell, in your delusional mind, you might actually believe that those guys are exciting to watch, and everybody has different tastes in what is entertaining and what is not in the ring, and the vast majority (I'd guess 70%+) would agree that those guys are a bore to watch.
Instead of just acknowledging them for what they are, you will argue, bash, and make racism accusations in an attempt to make everybody see them in the same light as you do.
Trust me, you have too many people to convince. It will be more worth it to just accept them for what they are, respect everybody's opinion toward them, and move on without making racist accusations.Comment
They're selling out football stadiums!
