Cotto was planned to fight Margarito. Williams upset Margarito and called Cotto out. Cotto, instead, opted for a fight that was just as tough and a much bigger money fight.

After Cotto got beatdown by Margarito is it really reasonable to expect him to fight a monster like Williams coming off that loss?

See this is your problem. You don't know enough about the events that transpired over that time period to speak knowledgeably on the subject. You go "well at one point they were number 1 and number 2", but you fail to understand the circumstances surrounding the time period.

Of course Williams was calling out Cotto when Williams was a nobody, it's easy to in that position. Cotto instead fought Shane Mosley, it's not like he took an easier opponent. There was never a point where the fight was feasibly going to happen. Never.

I Respect Paul Williams. I dont think he's as awesome as I see alot of people making him out to be on this site, tho. In a alot of his fights I see him being countered fairly easily and getting hot flush. He"s like a another Margarito with a little more pep in ways, "Take shots keep comming keep throwing" I feel as if he needs some more top notch oppisiton before I become a fan. If he fights the right type of fighter, I could see him getting hurt seriously or looking really bad.

I gotta admit tho, when P Will trashed Winky I was happy. Winky is the most boring, no punching power having, low output giving, one trick pony in the history of boxing. I give him his respect for his accomplishments, But he fights like turtle and throws his right hand like a girl.
