Rightfully so, but at the time Floyd fought Judah and Baldomir they were the top dogs, especially Baldomir. I remember watching on ESPN and they were grilling Floyd for ducking Baldomir. Of course in hinds-sight everything is 20/20. But I don't thinks its fair to say that those two wins amount to nothing.
(No hate thread) Do you consider mayweather one of the best Welterweights of this era

Heres Brian Kenny, yes the same one Pac fans love is here accusing Floyd of ducking Baldi and Hatton.Rightfully so, but at the time Floyd fought Judah and Baldomir they were the top dogs, especially Baldomir. Go figure.
Now all off a sudden these wins means nothing. Thats boxing scene for you.

boxers like floyd need to be judged by the overall work, not just on a specific division (particularly ww), to get recognition. he already jumped too many weight divisions in his career to even be expected to fight the top contenders on one of his heaviest divisions.Comment

Beating Baldomir gave him another WBC belt to add to the collection, but truth be told, Baldormir's not very good and quite franky he was at the right place at the right time for Floyd.Rightfully so, but at the time Floyd fought Judah and Baldomir they were the top dogs, especially Baldomir. That win doesn't add any really stock to Floyd's supposed Welterweight greatness. I won't knock his performance in that fight though because he was very good.Comment

Wow!, its really funny to hear that now and it's easy to see why Floyd often says he is in a no-win situation.Comment

And thats the problem, he made it look to easy. He trained himself for that fight and I think that alone speaks volumes about Floyd's mental toughness and self-discipline.Beating Baldomir gave him another WBC belt to add to the collection, but truth be told, Baldormir's not very good and quite franky he was at the right place at the right time for Floyd.

Now if he would have slept on Baldomir like Judah did and the fight was close, everyone would be praising Baldomir like people did Castillo. Floyd does himself no favors because he makes it look to easy. Okay I'm done. But yes you are right Cotto is by far better than Judah and Baldomir.Comment

Floyd didn't go out of 1st gear in that fight. He didn't have to. Baldomir was tailor made for him.And thats the problem, he made it look to easy. He trained himself for that fight and I think that alone speaks volumes about Floyd's mental toughness and self-discipline.
