Most people remember Tyson as a badass at the peak of his career, i think people will remember Jones the same way, unless he continues on and on and on like holyfield to the point in which you're begging him as a fan to retire.

Jones lost 5 of his last 10 fights, Tyson lost 3 of his last 10 w/ 2 NC.
Holyfield has lost 5 of his last 10,

Just saying Jones' legacy is teeter on the edge of Tyson-esque of having his prime days always remembered, or moving into holyfield area of "The guy had heart, too much heart and didn't know when to quit, i can't believe they're still giving this guy fights"
10 years from now it won't make a difference. Roy will be remembered for what he was at his peak and what he accomplished throughout his career.

Doesn't mean too much to me. RJJ beat Bernard for a world title when they were both young. That win trumps any win for either fighter now.

All joking aside, I think you're right. I guess the part i'm bitter about is the people that see fighters like Jones Jr now and think, "Whats all the hype about, this guy isn't that good" not realizing what he once was.

                  Funny how that happens.
I think if Roy wins it counts for something, it defies the odds. If he wins and retires it counts as a one last hoorah

Would he redeem himself or would it not mean a lot to people? is his legacy too far gone now?

I think if Hopkins loses everyones going to be like WTF? but i don't think it'll hurt his legacy, it'll just be one of those cases where Jr's got his number.
