    Roy Jones Jr.... Tainted Legacy

If Bernard Knocked out Roy I think we can all agree that it wouldn't really mean much in the way of enhancing Hopkins career but if Roy knocked out Bernard what would this mean in terms of his legacy? Would he redeem himself or would it not mean a lot to people? is his legacy too far gone now?

Its like Hector Camacho beating Sugar Ray Leonard. But that doesnt take away his legacy.

Except that Camacho is also a great fighter.

This is a completely redundant and disgraceful fight with zero significance and value for any of them.

Hard to tell. Hopkins has still looked great in his past couple of fights, lost a split decision to Calzaghe, easily outfoxed Pavlik, but that Pavlik win was nearly 18 months ago. He's an old fighter. But a win over Bernard Hopkins is a big win, I guess. He's only lost debatable decisions since Jones cleanly beat him 17 years ago.

Jones should have retired after beating Ruiz. What better way for a former middleweight champion to retire than winning a heavyweight championship.

My only thought are that its shameful believe great fighters legacies are tarnished by how they perform once they are passed their best. Hopkins is also an old man so I don't see much upside to either winning, but a loss from either fighter doesn't change the fact they were 2 of the greatest of our generation.
