You have to realize that boxing, wrestling, track and UFC are the only sports that coming in as small as possible is actually an advantage. In all other sports, athletes actually walk around 10-15lbs higher than there normal weight vs boxing who fight well below their walk around weight.

Americans were a lot smaller back then. Go to any early settlement that is still up for tourist purposes. I remember going on a field trip back when I was in 5th grade and we went to one. I remember going into the houses and noticing how small the chairs were and how I couldn't even fit in them. I asked my teacher why, and she told me that back in day's people were a lot smaller.

Also Abe Lincoln was considered a giant back at one point, and was only 6-4 or so. So better nutrition and living conditions have resulted in Americans being a lot bigger on average than they were back then.

There never were a lot of good white (or black) flyweights. There are very few healthy white dudes who weight less than 112 pounds.

There are some good white fighters from 115 up to super featherweight: Vic Darchinyan, Kevin Mitchell and Vitali Tajbert come to mind.

Featherweight Vasyl Lomachenko is arguably the #1 p4p amateur boxer in the world, he was selected the best fighter in any weight class in the 2008 Olympics.

Don't forget Aleksei Tishchenko. Destroyed Gamboa in the amateurs. Also Frankie Gavin, great amateur.

When was the last time we got a great white lower weight fighter? I know we got ricky hatton recently, but lets all be honest he wasnt that great of a fighter. I know the white europeans are dominating 160 & up weight divisions but what happend to all the great white 147 & under fighters?

I mean they all couldnt be playing in the nba, nfl, mlb, & professional soccer right?
