The problem with Shane and not having a huge fan base is that as soon as he would get a career defining win....he would immediately lose in a dominating fashion.

Flash back to early 2000....he was getting some buzz and then he beat Oscar for the first time. Everyone was calling him the "Michael Jordan" of boxing, and so many people became fans of him. Then immediantly in the next fight he gets dominated by Vernon Forrest.

While I don't blame fans, logic tells you that if people start to follow you because they hype you up to be something more than you are, and they think your invincible, once they see you get dominated (esp when he happened right after your career defining win) people are gonna stop following you.

This is always been his problem. His biggest wins that created the most buzz was followed up in dominated losses back to back. He beat Oscar...the world loves him. He soon gets dominated by Vernon, and then loses a redemption fight killing any thought that Forrest may have caught him off guard.

Then during the second Oscar fight, most felt he didn't win. Shortly after Winky dominates him in back to back fights and suddenly the immortal Shane looks like an average fighter, making a lot of his new fans stop following him.
If Mosley had cherry picked fights like Manny and Floyd he'd probably be a much bigger star because he wouldn't have those Forrest losses on his record.

Had Roy been in mega fights (which he had a chance to do, but didn't) then he would have been a huge star.

Not really, He was too good and most of his fights were formalities before he even gets in the ring so people were bored, Some say he cherry pick then the question is who did he avoid or duck?? Then you get the germany guy thrown at you darius M...So who did RJJ avoid??

After his 2 loses with Forrest, Wright, a lost to Cotto, and going the distant with Mayorga.. he lost alot of fan..

Another thing.. is he doent talk **** like Floyd.. He is well liked just not enought to bring in PPV#s.

Unlike Floyd who plays a very good Villian... Floyd so good at it.. I pay to watch his fight.. Infact I will be having a fight party on May 1st rooting for Mosley..

I agree with you to an extant but he didn't lose to Forrest immediately after beating De La Hoya. He lost to Forrest 2 years later after beating DLH. He defended his WBC Welterweight title 3-4 times before losing to Forrest.

I think there's more Mosley fans on here than you think, it's just that the site is so dominated by Pac and Floyd fans, Mosley like others are not talked about as much.

shanes well liked just most peoples 2nd or 3rd fav rather than 1st, he didnt capitalise on the key moments in his career, through poor matchmaking.

Vinny Piazena (sp) over Nigel Benn at 168......I mean if that isn't cherry picking then I don't know what is.

Come on homie....your from England so you should know better. Matter fact...I see it's London to be exact....home of two of the best 168lbs in the 90's (Benn and Eubank)

Im sorry anytime the following top fighters such as
                  Steve Collins

                  Gerald McClennon
                  Julian Jackson
                  Chris Eubank

                  Bryant Brannon
                  Eric Lucas
                  Merqui Sosa
                  Tony Thornton

                  Antoine Byrd

This is the defintion of cherry picking.

I can name atleast 10 fighters that Pac couldve fought. You can do that for anyboxer. Reality is thugh is that this isnt Fight Night Round 4 where we can match these guys up with everyone. Roy is an ATG and a legend.
