If it was really because he didn't wanna face Cotto/Marg he would have at least fought Oscar first, for another $25 + mill, then retired. But I do believe he feared both Miguel and Margarito, to be frank
I think floyd knew that the rematch with dela hoya wouldn't generate as much money as their first fight because boxing fans was disgusted by that fight and the people who watch the fight wouldn't bought that fight again because they feel like they were robbed like they are just watching a sparring match. And i agree that he's scared to face margarito or cotto.

But didn't Mayweather fight Baldomir for 8 million too after refusing Margarito's offer of the same amount?

Boxing did just fine without him, Pacquiao stepped up and more than filled the void. I think he retired because there was a lot of dangerous fighters at WW and he just didn't fancy it any more. Now that most of the real contenders have defeated each other he feels ready to come back and beat up, past it, LW Juan Manuel Marquez. At least Mosley is a genuine top WW.

Well that good then isnt it?? He fought the number 1 guy at WW for the same money... Same sure Brian Kinney agreed because he accuse Mayweather of ducking both Baldomir and Hatton.

Actually Mayweather refused Margarito because he had plans to fight Oscar for 3x that much. But Oscar is the one that held off from signing right away. By then Mayweather had broken his ties with Top Rank and was being blackballed by that sleazebag Arum. So Mayweather went and took on the lineal champ Baldo while he waited for Oscar.

Plus there was no big fish to fry after Oscar and Hatton... say what you want as boxing fans, but the average Joe had no clue who Cotto and Margarito were until after their epic clash.

If Margarito's fanbase was that big, don't you think Margarito-Mosley would have been a PPV fight?

And this was a year or so after the fact.

If Margarito's not doing PPV's then, he wouldn't do them around the time Floyd retired. Unless the whole, "People only watch Floyd to lose" thing is 100% fact.

I think his hands were hurt more than he was telling the public. The only way to heal broken bones fully is to rest. It takes more than a year to heal from fractures fully. We will know after the Mosley fight if his hands are healthy now because I think it's going to be a war.
