yes. i know thats his style and all but, he was in the main event of a big ppv. he was fighting for a major belt and it could have led to bigger and better fights and more money. he didnt wanna take that chance and go for the win.
Have you lost respect for Clottey as a fighter?

that's b/c manny threw so many punches at him, they came from different angles, and they came so fast.....
clottey's a good fighter, but he's not elite, and just doesn't belong in the same ring as manny pacquiao.
that is it.Comment

Well at first I was dissapointed at his performance. But somethings came to mind.
He accepted pac is too fast and he couldnt create offense.
He always slacks and comes up short.
I believe him when he said he couldnt create offense and was overwhelmed with pac's speed.
And like kellerman said , he doesnt have the heart and mentality of a champ.
And , I was like , those things add up and make sense.
Its sad ,, seeing the potential. Clottey doesnt have good defense. He just blocks , With a good defense , he would have been able to counter while dodging. Blocking like he does is just being cautious , and not wanting to take the risk of being hit.Comment

I haven't even answered my own thread but My answer would be this^^^ and this is the reason why. Although. This is a major title. Go out on your shield! IMO!Comment

Not true at all. Hate to be reptitive but because of Clottey's peek-a-boo guard; rarely does he mix his offense/ defense, so his opponent has to stand in front of him; right after his opponent throws. And Pacquiao ain't that dude. Pacquiao would shoot the straight left hand and turn to Clottey's left, not allowing Clottey to get off. It's a style thing. He kept turning Clottey and Clottey isn't exactly quick footed or agressive. Clottey feeds off of Mosley/ Cotto/ Margarito-like opponents, not Pacquiao.Comment

yes, especially when he says in the post fight conference "he neva heet me" If that's the case why weren't you swinging then?Comment

No. I expected Clottey to open up in the later rounds and try to win a KO. I thought this was his only chance and was kind of surprised that he didn't go for it. But I'm also kinda not surprised.
We aren't Joshua Clottey so we don't know how he was feeling. I think he was spent. He absorbed A LOT of body shots.
Secondly, it's hard for me to talk about respect when a guy goes 12 rounds with Cotto, 12 rounds with Pacquiao etc and doesn't get knocked out. He's a tough guy and deserves respect for the incredible condition that he's got himself in.Comment
