He feeds off countering when an opponent stops, but thats a little difficult when one guy is throwing 20 shots at a time.

But savor why do you say pathetic attempt? Clottey stood infornt of him the WHOLE time, and walked him down. Would it have been less pathetic if he were to run away due to having no defensive skil to block shots with lafter the 4th round and get get beaten up while running and throwing even less than he did in the later rounds?

It was almost a shut out, but Clottey fought like he lways does.
He didn't fight like he normally does. He's got a **** workrate, but it's not THAT low.

And yes. I would have preferred him to engage. He HAD to take risks, he's a good defensive fighter, we knew this. But he just stayed in his shell.

Who gives a **** if you're coming forward if you're not throwing punches. Hell, Cotto in retreat mode was throwing more punches than Clottey was coming forward.

I know you don't like Cotto, but Cotto put up FARRRRRRR better of an effort. I don't see how it's debatable. Cotto, for 5 rounds, was very much in the fight. Clottey at no point was remotely in the fight, I don't care if he didn't get stopped or didn't run. I'd rather have some success and be in the fight at one point than do what Clottey did.

He didn't come to win. When you come in, see that what you wanted to do is not working, you gotta mix it up. He didn't have any interest in that. He refused to take a risk when he KNEW he was getting shut out....and he did get shut out.

like bully said, he throws up a guard to block punches, and fires back when his opponent stops punching.

the problem with last night, is that pacquiao rarely stopped. clottey was clottey tho. i don't think he took a dive, i don't think he was "satisfied" with getting the fight, and i don't think he showed up only to "survive." manny, stylisticly was just horribly wrong for the way clottey fights.

And I agree to an extent. I predicted what happened would happen.

But usually when your corner is begging you to throw more punches and that you're losing every round, there is SOME sort of desperation. Clottey had zero sense of urgency which implies, to me at least, that he had accepted defeat and was content going the distance.

You go to the fight Jro?

I dunno, I guess he was being pretty biased, but Clottey didn't do much, so w.e.

He did sound angry at Clottey, though. They were pretty hard on him last night, but he didn't take any risks and he needed to.
