ufc's main competition is wwe/wwf not boxing.

a lot of mma fans are also boxing fans and vice versa.

mma is only a threat to wwe because it supplies a real version similar to pro wrestling.
He started the whole boxing is dead **** again, he got all these gullible idiots saying it everywhere. Now you want some sort of peace treaty? **** that, boxing fans should keep their boot on mmas neck.

You don't know wtf you're talking about. De La Hoya-Mayweather was the be all end all when it was made, Lewis-Tyson a few years before, and De La Hoya-Trinidad a couple before that.

Who ever comes out the winner of Mayweather-Pacquiao will consistently sell a million ppvs, the loser will still do a consistent 700K. Whoever beats them becomes a star and whoever emerges out of other divisions to become a star.

    This **** will never stop.

That's going through the motions---these guys are not going to be around another 5 years and tell me other stars right now who have star quality like Gayweather and Pacroid? None. Amir Con? The geriatric Juan Manuel Marquez?

The top five Pay Per Fighting events of 2009 are as follows:

1.) UFC 100 Lesnar vs Mir / St Pierre vs Alves - 1,500,000+ buys
        2.) Pacquiao vs Cotto - 1,250,000 buys
        3.) UFC 101 - Penn vs Florian / A. Silva vs Griffin - 1,100,000 buys
        4.) Mayweather vs. Marquez - 1,000,000+ buys
        5.) UFC 94 - Penn vs St Pierre 2 - 800,000 buys

        i don't know why.

it seems casual fans watch boxing if there's a big fight on.

ufc can get casual fans just by having a show.

maybe it's because boxing sells names. that's why the big name boxing events will usually do better than big name ufc events.

however ufc sells the event itself not just the name. that's why non-big events outdo non-big boxing events.
Lol you also left out how one boxer from a PPV main event, makes more than every fighter in one UFC PPV make as a whole. So let's say $3-5Mill will be distributed to every fighter on the UFC 100 card(not each, they will share it). The lowest fighter on that card would probably make $10-50k, the highest paid fighter would get paid around 300k with a win bonus maybe 450k-600k. MMA can sell all they want, the lesser known pro boxers make as much as the most famous UFC fighters..and that's a fact.

you sure about that buddy or are you blindly following some random website? did you forget already that pacquaio vs Hatton did 850,000ppv buys, according to my maths thats more than your number 5, therefore boxing has 3 of the top 5 not the other way around and its going to get even worse by the end of this year when the top5 consists of Mayweather vs Pacquaio, Mayweather vs Mosley, Pacquaio vs CLottey(should do around 800,00ppv buys), Hatton vs Khan will most likely all be in the top5

No doubt about it, zab judah did 100,000 ppv buys against some random I can't even remember his name and STILL got paid around 5million, thats more than any UFC fighter makes in a single fight, that even includes their main superstars like Brock Lesnar and Anderson Silva

UFC has to have 10 fights on the undercard. Only Brock, GSP, Silva, Fedor can match the same numbers of a major boxing event. but in comparison ....wreslemania can sell just as many...maybe more, but who gives a ****

difference is the quality of UFC fights compares to boxing at the moment. Boxing is stacked. from bantamweights all the way up to supermiddle there are high quality match ups (not to mention over half of these matches are for FREE! on hbo and showtime)
which is awesome. I hate shelling out $50 for huge UFC letdowns (as of late) but im looking forward to Brock returning, or atleast the GSP hardy fight. UFC needs a to get a major network like strikeforce has with showtime so they can kick down some free live events.

Joshua Clottey, a guy that no one outside of hardcore boxing fans know, is gonna get paid possibly more than every fighter on whatever next UFC PPV card's salary will be getting paid.

Manny Pacquiao is gonna get paid what 40 UFC fighters make in two UFC PPV cards altogether....in just one HBO PPV.

So who's dying to make UFC type numbers again?

                      hey idiot.

we're talking about ppv sales here. i'm not talking about how the fighters get paid.
