The top grossing MMA event (Chuck Liddell vs Tito Ortiz) would not crack the top 35 in boxing. In fact, the live gate for that event was less than the live gate for the Larry Holmes-Muhammad Ali match which was fought in 1980!
you realize that mma has only started in vegas back in like 2002-2003 right?

how many boxing cards have done better than holmes-ali at the gate in vegas since 2003?

i'll give you a hint. they all involve delahoya or pacquiao and mayweather after they had fought delahoya.

i just laugh at all these guys who want to downgrade ufc.

ufc is no threat to boxing.

ufc's main competition is wwe/wwf not boxing.

a lot of mma fans are also boxing fans and vice versa.

mma is only a threat to wwe because it supplies a real version similar to pro wrestling.

Why do people call UFC a fad? Don't get upset just because there is a new combat sport on the block. You don't like MMA, whoopty doo. No reason to reiterate it every thread that it pops up in. I don't like Heavyweight boxers, do you see me posting in Eddie Chambers and Klitschko threads? No.

Dana White started his managing/promoting career in the Boxing world. He knows what he is doing. It has nothing to do with UFC dying, MMA going down, it's a fad. HE ENJOYS A GOOD FIGHT. Stop being a fucking ******.

UFC isn't going anywhere. We are in the age of instant communication. People have caught on incredibly fast. And the fans aren't just in it for a fad. Unlike you douche bags, they simply enjoy watching people fight.

Go watch boxing and stop talking about MMA if you hate it so much.

I agree with you about the WWE being its main competition. If you look at the ppv buys for the WWE they have really gone down since the UFC became popular.

                yup.

the ufc cut into a lot of pro wrestling's business.

                  no ****?

thank you for telling me something i already knew and had nothing to do with what we were talking about.

he was talking about live gates in vegas for mma and boxing. the ufc didn't start holding events in vegas 'til later on. they were banned from a lot states in the beginning.

shooto was more shoot wrestling than mma in the beginning btw. it didn't adopt typical mma rules 'til later.

You people don't know anything...Dana White is waiting for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight! Why? because that is the last meaningful fight for the next decade involving two of the best P4p fighters....aftewards there is nothing left for boxing except for contenders which UFC has been able to handle thus far...think Mcfly..think. Dana is sitting back and relaxing watching boxing go downhill.

Oh alright. I thought you just meant that mma was created in general.
