If you are weakening yourself to make weight, of course moving up will strengthen you. If champs move up just to win another tite at a weight that isn't natural they might lose power. Often it depends on who they face and how well they can take it.

people always try to lift weights or get more muscular when they move up that's why.

      it's a big mistake.

they don't really lose power. if anything they get more , it's just their opponents can take better punches in the higher division in comparison to their former division.

If Duran was knocking down Iran Barkley or Ray Leonard was ko'ing Don Lalonde today we be subject to a thousand threads how it was unnatural.

If Bob Fitzimmons, a middleweight moved up and won the heavyweight title with one bodypunch today, we would get 10,000 Corbett fans starting thread after thread in the NSB. LOL

            Floyd Mayweather Jr
...in his early years KO'd smaller boxers and dehydrated bigger guys.
...in wealterweight Fraud Jr beats bloated smaller lightweights, fights like a chicken bigger guys and ducks the elite welterweights like Pacquiao.

            Summary:

            Floyd Mayweather Jr is cherrypicking.

It's not that you lose power, it's that your power isn't as effective at the next weight class as it is in the weight class you are leaving/left.... in most cases.
