I think other fighters have cut off the ring better,so it is not exactly a strict weakness to ALL fighters. Some are better at being adaptable in certain situations.
Obviously to a fighter that is throwing volume and coming forward, the best thing to do is to take away the offense and counter.
When Cotto was on the backfoot, this is one tactic that seemed to stand out,and it was against a fighter who was already beaten. If Cotto had done this from the beginning,he could have looked better. However, it is not a style that Cotto uses (I think it was obvious that he did this as a method of retreat instead of using it to set any offense up)-If Floyd does this,I believe it will cause nightmares for Manny's style.
    pac/floyd is a 50/50 fight

everyone that ran from pac got stopped or lost so........

Based on a lot of Floyd's fight-the come forward, pressure fighting, throw a lot of punches, sort of gameplan does not work at all.Floyd can take away the volume punching with distance, slow the pace and choose spots to counter. Leading against a brilliant counter puncher only allows him opportunity. If people are only counting on a lucky punch getting in,or assuming Floyd can get outboxed-then I just don't see anything new happening. If 40 fights have had the same strategy and have failed,it is time to try something new...
It is possible that the first few rounds of the Judah fight would be tougher than how Manny would approach Floyd. Especially considering that Judah fights a bit more sporadic.

On the other side of the coin-
EVERYONE who approached Floyd has lost.Every gameplan they utilized has failed, and most people who have a pressure fighting style or have rushed in with the hopes of getting that one great punch in has lost....

It would be a good fight.

I think that of all the fighters I have seen (though I used to watch from the late 70s till the 90s (stopped there) and only to be resuscitated by Pacquiao...Pacquiao has improved tremendously, learned a lot, improved a lot and adapted good working habits and style in a very short time.

This is the key to any fight.

Who can adapt/change and execute techniques flawlessly.

Mayweather has been on a very high level of boxing for a while but I don't see him improving, instead his offense have dropped a tad or two. But having said that, he is still a force to be reckoned with.

Mosley is still a formidable bruising brawler/boxer type of a fighter and don't know if he really digressed as much over time. Obviously he has gotten older but he still is sharp from the Margarito fight.

And so with Pacquiao, not to be a "nut-hugger" but I haven't seen anyone who has transformed himself and scarily in the last 3 years! And thus his style has evolved and continue to evolved into a relatively more complete fighter than his ole' RIGHT JAB-STRAIGHT LEFT CROSS fighter.

If anything, his footwork has gotten better in his lateral movement most specially moving to the his left. He is a master at moving to his right and underneath to counter with left/right combo from weird angles and now with tremendous strength.

But if anything I would love him to fight Mayweather as a master defender. I would love to see how Pacquiao would solve the ever-mind-boggling defense of Mayweather's shoulder roll (susceptible against southpaws), fades, bob and weaves.

Mayweather's lunging left hooks leads are formidable as well as his right crosses (seemingly his favorite). This right cross would give Pacquiao some fits and thrown from a very defensive position it would be very hard to defend.

And so against Mayweather, Pacquiao would have to:

              • cut off the angle
              • beat Mayweather with his lateral footwork to his left
              • body punches
              • and well timed counters

But Pacquiao would have to use his LEFT CROSSes and LEFT HOOKS/UPPERCUT in a very well timed manner. Footworks would do wonders opening it up as well as feints.
You str right on that but it also depends on the way.

There are some fighters who only use a jab to dominate fights.

These are way. punchs and abilities are tools.

What is important is to excute them. That is what most people dont understand.

Pac have improved alot through out the years but also he has reached his peak or close to.

When Mayweather fights he is rarely have been in a critical sitaution or dangerous sitaution while Pac have looked in trouble in couple of fights in couple of rounds.

we'll never know if this true because manny wont fight any true boxers. if he fights a top ranked boxer like floyed or even berto then all my ?s about him are answered and he's proven himself as the best. it just seems that a lot of his recent opponents are tailor-made for his style. case and point, josh clottey!

The style to beat Pacquiao is a an excellent boxer, good counter puncher, with a right hand and great timing. He must have heart and balls too.
