Look ... Vegas doesn't want any action Manny , I don't see many people jumping out of their chair running to casino to place money on - 800 . And there will be 10,000's of people who will place their money on the heavy underdog to x5 their invested money whether it's $1 or $1000 .
Manny wins = Vegas doesn't lose on his side .
Clottey wins = they still not going to lose anything with that huge 250 points juice difference ( - 800 and + 550 ) . For every person betting $100 to win $550 on Clottey there still will be someone with $800 bet to win $100 on Pacman .

my gamblers mind is thinking 'if i put down $200 on Clottey and if he pulls the upset, $1100 is a nice amount to make me feel better'

I had a similar line of reasoning on Froch-Dirrell (I'm a Froch fan).

I bet on Dirrell, but Froch got outboxed and looked terrible, then he got a decision he didn't deserve.

Clottey does have upset possibility, its a long shot, but nearly 6-1 I'd throw a little something on it for excitement, is there a minimum? Put enough on it that if you lose its no biggie, but if you win it'll get you a night on the town or something.

Considering not many people outside of boxing know Clottey and even if you aren't a hardcore boxing fan chances are you have seen this little guy who iced Hatton , beaten up Cotto and De La Hoya I would say Pacquiao will be atleast - 600+ at lets say 5dimes who have him listed at - 525 at the moment . Whoever has Pacquiao at - 800 right now is not worth dealing with in the first place , there are A rated bookies who have him at under - 550 .

Pacquiao was like -320 against Cotto it makes sence that against Clottey his numbers would be pretty high. That number is mildly attractive on Clottey but that is like on the low end so I would just pass it would need to be like +750 to interest me.

He opened up at - 350 against Clottey unless I've missed out on the actual opening odds .

Another thing to consider is that if Clottey legitimately pulls it off it's probably going to be a very close fight and it's hard to imagine that Clottey is going to get the nod from the judges considering what's at stake. Plus it will likely be a very pro Pacquiao crowd and judges these days seem to prefer quantity over quality i.e. activity even it's not totally effective.

If you think Pacman is going to win but Clottey lasting a while here is what I would try :

Pacquiao wins by unanimous decision at + 165

and insurance to cover up this one Pacquiao wins in round 10-12 at +549 .

Lets say $50 to win $82.50 and cover with $9.11 to win $50 .

If Pacman wins by UD you are $73.39 bucks up , if he wins in the 10-12 you don't lose a single cent .
There is also an outside shot to cash both if somebody gets cut by a headbutt and fights goes to a technical decision in 10 to 12 rounds with Manny winning it .

Pacquiao-Cotto started much closer also so it is a genuine trend that people will bet on Manny no matter the number. In this fight that knowledge really doesn't pay off because I give Clottey maybe a 20% chance and that is being pretty generous so I could justify betting but why even mess around with that.
