Cupocity, please explain how your logic can not be translated into the analogies I just gave???
Your logic implys only certain people should be able to do certain things.
and some people should not be able to do cetain things...
am i wrong?
It is like telling a white kid he is trying to act black, when that white kid probably like rap music and his values reflex the rap culture. As a result he might have characteristics that society usually assoicates with blacks.
However, that is not problem. Because he has the right to be who he wants to be. What if he grew up in that environment????
According to your logic it does not matter because he is white, and he should act so called white..
am i wrong?
Your logic is very narrow..
no hate, just a observation
Thanks

Respect ... for the avatar.First of all, i'm a big, big fan of Mayweather's boxing skills, defense and appreciate him as a great boxer. I'm not one of those, "His style is boring chicken buaha" mutants.
I don't even mind what he says, even when I disagree with it, and take it with a grain of salt.
BUT, what I don't like is guys like him getting in opponents faces during press-conf's when their fighting-style doesn't reflect that. Fightrs like Miranda or Mayorga, hell even Mosley himself are entitled to this because they are agressive fighters and can really ****. Their style of fighting is even usefull in the real world outside of the squared circle, if they need to throw down with somebody on the streets. So if they get in someone's face and talk trash, it's legitimate because they're gonna fight that way.
Guys like Malignaggie, Cory Spinks, Sharmba Mitchell....yet alone Floyd (who doesn't move around as much as those three) , should keep a safe distance from their opponents at post-press stare down's. Reflect your boxing style. Don't pretend to be something that you're not. You're slick, you're quick, you're an athelete and a great boxer, Respect. Be that, BUT don't get up all in a fighters face because that's as close as we're gonna see you to him on fight night.
Thanks for reading, over and out...

aiight, i get it....only brawlers should be allowed to get into ppl's faces? You quoted me out of context. I said he is not a tough guy like that.
It's different from me saying that he isn't tough period. What did I say in my original post (I.E. I'm not one of those "Mayweather is a runner chicken" type boxing fans). I'm not! Maybe I should be more careful with my choice words, so there are no misunderstandings.
Maybe I should say he isn't a Rough & Tough style type fighter like that.
Better?
floyd's a professional fighter, and he hasn't been beaten, so i don't see a problem with him getting into ppl's faces, especially if he's ABOUT TO FIGHT THE GUY....
like 1 dude posted, it's promotion and hype.
the question you should be asking is WHY nobody has been able to make him pay for it.Comment

That's comparing apple's and organes, this is the fight game we're talking about. A poodle cannot pretend to be a bulldog. If we're gonna generalize and make analogies using examples about things outside the squared circle, that's a more appropriate one.Cupocity, please explain how your logic can not be translated into the analogies I just gave???

But I sense a bit of hostility coming from you disguised in a passive-agressive manner, and I know you're one of Mayweather's biggest fans, so i'm not interested in a circle jerk arguement with you. So feel free to make one last remark to complete your E-victory.

People know what they get with Floyd hes been boxing since 1996. If anyone is surprised by what they see in the ing needs to watch another sport. Hes been the way for a while. That's apple's and organes, this is the fight game we're talking about. A puddle cannot pretend to be a bulldog. If we're gonna generalize and use analogies with things outside the squared circle, that's a more appropriate one.

He gets into people faces because he knows how to fight. Some of the toughest guys in boxing dont brawl.
Malignagii
Hopkins
Mayweather
Thats a bit of a broad comment. "Boxers' shouldnt be allowed to promote their fight? Only brawlers?Comment

Correct. That's my stance or viewpoint.
And I do. And that's ok. We simply have a philosophical difference here. I simply think he should reflect his fighting style. Tell us how great his boxing skills are, tell us about Shane' weaknesses in a boastfull manner.floyd's a professional fighter, and he hasn't been beaten, so i don't see a problem with him getting into ppl's faces
But not act tough (remember tough as in not fighting in a face to face, toe to toe destroy mode style, not me saying he isn't tough at all) as if he is about to rip Mosley's head off and eat his children Iron Mike Style, when all we're getting is the sweet science of boxing.
Now are we gonna continue to trade talking points or is it safe to say that we have nothing new to add and just agree to disagree?Comment

You can promote your fight in many different ways. You can even be close to a fighter for a Face-off, knowing it's for the promotion and that it's for the purpose of pictures being taken.
But mouthing off as if you're gonna do something face to face, I disagree with unless you display that type of trait in the ring as well.
P.S - I'm running out of ways & words and rephrasing tactics to get my point across.Comment

Tell that to Joe Fraizer who hates Ali so much he was happy to see him with Parkinsons. Ali would humiliate guys like Fraizer on national TV calling him a monkey etc. Floyd has never really gone as far as Ali has with any of his comments. Ali has made racist comments and really personal comments, not that it wasn't in the name of hyping a fight but people now seem to have rose tinted glasses about Ali and forget how he was perceived at the time by many.Ali trash-talked in a colorful manner. Even when he was close to his fighters at press-conf's, he did it in a playful manner. He wasn't acting as if he was George Foreman or Joe Frazier. He talked trash, displayed his footwork via the shuffle and that was that.
Floyd is getting up in opponents faces like he is about to Mike Tyson them, when we all end up getting a Pernell Whitaker treatment on fight night.Comment
