Shouldn’t Mayweather be applauded for wanting testing for PEDs?

I think Pac's reason for asking what he did was justified.

I don't think Floyd's demands were as justified as Pac's were.

Therefore if Floyd would have dropped his less than justifiable demand, he'd have a fight on his hands and the biggest payday in his life.

    That's my take.
I vaguely understand where you are coming from-I just question if it is from a neutral point of view and not a fan's point of view.
At the end of the day-an excessive penalty shouldn't be issued-the fight should be called completely OFF if Manny feels Floyd would come in over the WW limit-especially if Manny feels he would not be able to win because of this.
I doubt the random blood test request would have been asked (you never really know however) if this outrageous weight penalty wasn't a stipulation in the contract.I believe a penalty should exist, but not one so far-fetched... I can only be forced to believe that is,as I say, a way to put someone off from a contract...

Why didn't Manny?
Even after the mediation was failed,Floyd still was calling out Manny and saying he (Floyd) was optimistic about a fight with Manny, and publicly stating he "wants to beat Manny's punk ass" in his words....
I am unsure how one request as a trade off should be blamed on Floyd-think about it-is it really a request that warranted a refusal? Ask yourself "what is it Manny fights for" (the fair assumption should be for the biggest money he can get,as well as legacy),and then ask yourself if it would be worth refusing over the silly excuses that were doled out from Manny's team....it does not add up.When you want something bad enough, excuses will never get in the way-especially over random blood testing with a 2 week cut off...that is a rather modest request for a "clean" fighter such as Manny...

Add that up with Freddie stating from the very beginning that he wanted more time than a March date to train Manny how to prepare for a style like Mayweather's and the picture starts to become much clearer.
Add this up with the fact that Clottey is extremely similar in styles to Manny's last 4 opponents and it make things more clear. In fact, the only difference is that Clottey has a right hand, but isn't skilled or fast enough to become a threat.
It could be a way to ease Manny into fighting right handed fighters at 147 (remember,Manny hasn't fought a right handed fighter since 5 fights ago..."oddly" all of his opponents AFTER the right handed counter puncher in JMM have been either left hand converted,or left hand dominant fighting out of an orthodox stance-actually a pretty rare stance to rely on a left hand.I do NOT believe this to be a coincidence.)...I believe it was Manny and Freddie that did say it was the promoter's (Arum) job to line up the fights that most compliment styles of the fighter they promote (in this case,Manny makes Arum the most money,so I know he isn't going to sell out Manny for the much unfamiliar Clottey)....yet the devout fans of Manny want to say Floyd exclusively selects opponents while Manny fights the "best" out there.Lots of double-standards on these forums...

I'm sure Manny would be proud to have you represent him as a fan-lol
Come up with a debate that is a bit more elaborate than elementary insults that show your age...

Thanks...I wish some others here had a rational logic instead of a fan mentality.I hate to be parroting what others have said, but there really is a presence of foolish blind loyalty towards certain male fighters on boxingscene. They act like a dog on a leg that would go out begging for Manny to autograph their chests!

In a way yes he should, boxing does need stricter drug testing but I can't say I like the way he goes about doing it though.

I love the way Floyd went about implementing WADA testing with Pac, he basically said "take the test you little cheating *****"

I may be missing something here, but I don’t understand how Floyd Mayweather Jr. can be vilified for wanting his opponents to agree to random blood testing for performance enhancing drugs like human growth hormone (HCG). If this is something that can only help the sport by getting rid of dirty fighters that bulk up on growth hormone, which some people say can’t be detected by the old methods of urinalysis alone, why is Mayweather considered a bad person for wanting this? If you were a fighter, wouldn’t you want your opponent to agree to these tests if you felt that they were juicing?
                    .

Accusing ur opponent of juicing is very different from being an advocate of blood testing and encouraging the authorities to promote and enforce stricter tests for all boxers.

He went about it in the wrong way.

                    He hasnt mentioned it before.

He talked the talk about wanting to fight Pac, and suddenly came up with a demand just beofre they signed for the fight.

After reading a few responses its obvious a lot of posters are blaming Mayweather for killing the fight. They are saying he used the random drug tests to get under Pacquiao's skin. The fact is there's no way you can prove those were Floyds intentions. In fact, it looks just the opposite when you consider there were other fighters that expressed the same opinions. It would be different if it was just Floyd making these allegations. How was Floyd to know Pac would not agree to the testing? Who could have ever predicted that ***** to happen?
